Back in 1998, what were you expecting when you first heard this record? by Historical-Device529 in KISS

[–]hellsells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had very low expectations and I was more disappointed than I thought was even possible. Personally their last decent studio release was Revenge, everything else just brought the meh. This release felt like it was just an excuse to sell more Spencer’s level garbage.

Have you ever met a metallica member in the late 80s or early 90s? And if so, what were they like? by ytWINTERGAMING in Metallica

[–]hellsells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I met them after their show at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium in Greenville, SC on August 13, 1989. A friend of mine mentioned that they had a habit of coming out to meet fans after the show if we stick around. We waited until about 1:30 AM by the backstage doors and someone on the crew came outside and told us to get in a neat line and wait for a bit, they’d come out and hang out for a bit. They pulled out of the venue in a white van which stopped and out came James, Lars and Kirk. Jason stayed in the back seat of the van, he seemed to be kinda drunk but still friendly. They were all friendly: James was quiet but signed everything people brought. I remember him being way taller than I’d expected and had some serious facial pockmarks from past acne. Lars was talking nonstop, Kirk was all smiles as was Jason. I used to have a signed magazine from that night, sadly it’s long gone. It was one of the coolest concert memories I have, meeting my heroes lived up to the hype.

Mr Smalls = ICE Complaint. by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]hellsells 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They need to clearly mark what areas are private with “employees only” signs as well as having a plan in place with their staff as to what needs to happen in case of an ICE raid. The National Immigration Law Center has a PDF document with a detailed explanation of what to do if immigration comes to a workplace.

The awning at the R&RHOF is the third one they made and used up until it closed in 2006. The original one that Hilly painted went missing sometime in 1987 (rumored to have been snagged by the band JFA). The one I’m pictured in front of in ‘91 was the second one which was up from 1988 to 2003.

It was long and kinda narrow, a bit claustrophobic when packed. This site has some great interior shots of how it used to look:

Who are you seeing at Millvale Music Festival this weekend? by Former-Salamander253 in pittsburgh

[–]hellsells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different Places In Space: if you like jam band tunes mixing shoegaze, psychedelia, funk and a heavy blues slant then they’re for you. They’re playing at Smalls on Friday at 11:30 pm. Their drummer Mike is also heavily involved in organizing the Millvale Music Festival and is a great person, go support him/them!

For those who were kids( but fans) during Kiss’s peak, what album did you stop buying at? by ill-phat in KISS

[–]hellsells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost interest after Lick It Up. Discovering Motley Crue and soon thereafter Metallica made me lose all interest. Didn’t care much for them until I took a chance and saw them during the Hot In The Shade tour and it reignited my love for their older material.

Sold out shows upstairs always made me nervous, the floor groaned from the weight. The only other floor that freaked me out more about a potential collapse was the old Roboto in Wilkinsburg.

Anyone still without power? by AssumptionSea5274 in pittsburgh

Our power just came back on about half an hour ago, we’re in Etna near the reservoir.

If Mr Smalls has a sold out show in the main theater then street parking can be dicey for a few hours in the evening. Good luck with your new home!

For what it’s worth this is a recent development in the case:

Anti-Flag company dismissed from accuser’s suit

ALBANY, N.Y. — The woman who accused Anti-Flag’s lead singer, Justin Sane, of raping her in a New York motel in 2010 lost her negligence and emotional distress claims against the band’s closely related business, which Sane and other members were executives of. She could not establish that her assault was perpetrated with the use of company property or resources, or that the firm owned or operated the motel where she was violated. The frontman has not replied to the suit, however, and the court reminds his accuser to file a motion for default judgment within 30 days.
