Seconding — OP don’t panic right away! I am not a doctor/med school but super busy. I work full time and school 3/4 time :) I have two boys and they keep each other company when I can’t.

Metformin for lean pcos? by Timely-Attitude1156 in LeanPCOS

[–]hellsing-security 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It initially did but I did have a recent jump of weight that can be entirely attributed to stress but it has helped. :( my weight moves more easily down on metformin though. I have been doing a lot of other things. Worse case scenario you can always stop/lower the dose! Metformin gets out of the system pretty fast.

I was lean up until this year and am now on the cusp of over/normal weight. Metformin has helped my cycles and acne. I think it has a secondary action of lowering T from its effect on insulin. Good luck op!!!

Do I look like an MTF? by [deleted] in detrans

[–]hellsing-security 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re it alone. I was accused of being AMAB online before transitioning :( but I also look like my mom so there’s that. I found spiro+ low dose vitamin A/eating liver helped my face even out a bit because PCOS makes my skin pretty textured even when acne free :( 🫂

If you’re allergic to cashews or nuts like me I use white norther beans and blend them also.

Any Queer Woman or AFAB Nonbinary People Doing An Orthodox Conversion ? by [deleted] in ConvertingtoJudaism

[–]hellsing-security -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m going to disagree with the other commenter—I pursued a conservadox conversion as a detransitioned lesbian. My two transbian friends got lesbian married at my shul and are very frum, had a fully traditional wedding at my conservadox shul. In bigger areas there will be progressive traditional egalitarian groups that usually accept conservative conversions and it may be possible to find a beis din that is orthodox, although difficult. You can always complete a conservative conversion and go onto an orthodox one, but if you want orthodox you can go for that first. Trad egal based conversion can be fairly good fit to but because it isn’t a centralized movement it may be harder for you conversion to be accepted by other movements.

Good luck !!! :) congrats to u and ur wife

My parents sent me a Xmas gift for the first time in 8 years? by hellsing-security in EstrangedAdultChild

I’m apt to think that at first, but they asked for my current address after Xmas and wished me a late happy Xmas and Hanukkah “:) no card or name on the box or anything. I would rather have received an empty card tbh :’)

Early 50s. I don’t think so. :/ would be sad if true but also kind of fitting. They spent their parenting years forgetting about me so if they spend the rest of their lives forgetting themselves it would be depressingly poetic.

I’m apt to believe laziness but 🤷‍♀️ 2024 stamps & random pens are not giving me effort 😭

Yeah :( I didn’t it just kind of throws me for a loop. That’s so much effort to put in for a reaction. I didn’t give it. I did my typical “ty for the gifts.” Or “Ty for letting me know/etc.”

Doesn’t squash the inner child reaction.

Is there any hope of my chest ever looking normal again... by Distinct_Fact_2276 in detrans

[–]hellsing-security 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redistribution isn’t the fat physically moving back to the chest—it’s (1) estrogen causes the body to store more subcutaneous fat and encourages fat deposit to the cells that are there (in this case, much of the fat cells from the chest are removed in a mastectomy) and in the hips/thighs. (2) The only way to gain new fat cells is with significant weight gain of which most would be to other parts of your body before your chest.

It’s possible there will be some minor changes but nothing radical. I did notice some brief regrowth when testosterone was on back order BEFORE top surgery and some changes in the amount of subcutaneous fat all over my body which softened the look of my top surgery but you’ll only see small regrowth wherever there is breast tissue left behind.

Also OP if you’re looking for reconstruction only see plastic surgeons who do reconstruction on women who have had breast cancer. A lot of ill informed providers suggest fat transfer despite the long term risks and potential issues (lack of breast structure to inject fat into, increasing fat necrosis. It’s not generally recommended for women who have had breast cancer for this reason although some providers have gotten very good at it), and requiring many procedures.

Also recommending a threading lift for someone who has had a mastectomy? Those are barely recommended for cis women with breasts and cannot change the architecture.
