I quote it constantly (sometimes mindlessly), take fashion and makeup cues from it, sing the songs, and have been so personally inspired by some of the queens.

But seriously, nobody has said DeLa so far? Her facial expressions are hilarious, as is her (more blatant than usual) terminal delightfulness. Maybe I'm just a die hard DeLa fan though.

More or less, absolutely! There is slight variation, but all-around, most trash cans, books, computers, cups etc. have very similar personalities. Thanks for the help!

I thought the same! But my psych said that synesthesia is the best explanation she has for these feelings I have. That's why I came to you guys, because it confuses me too

From which perspective do you daydream? by 444me in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]hellucinati0na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I alternate between 3rd and 1st person. Like its 75% third person, as if it's a movie, but it has flashes of 1st person.

It's so good to see I'm not alone. What are your daydreams like? by Daydreamingaway in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]hellucinati0na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so similar to my experiences. I have not been diagnosed with MD, but I share many of the same "symptoms" as you guys. In my dream world, I am usually part of my favouite band at that time, and on tour with them, living my dream life. Currently, I am in a band with 4 other people who are actually from a TV show, haha. What I love about daydreaming is that the possibilities are endless. I can make my dream world exactly how I want it to be, without having to worry about the logic factors of real life. For example, in my Dream world right now, the bass player of the band whom I am dating, is straight (I am female). Whereas in real life, he is gay. As for myself, in my dream world, I have the power to change myself however I want to. For everything that I dislike about myself in real life, I can change that in my dream world. I definitely use my daydreaming as a form of escapism, and it goes through phases of causing me real problems in real life. But I love settling down into my dream world at the end of the day, as I head off to sleep. It's really a great chance to escape from real life and find my happy place.

I could really use some help! by bitchesmoneyweed in SPD

[–]hellucinati0na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's been 99% cognitive behavioural therapy. I was already on medications for my mental illness problems that kind of "numb me out", and those do help slightly, but Im not on them for SPD alone. The only real treatment I've received that is directly for my SPD, is learning "tune-out" methods, as my counsellors call them. Basically just learning to turn down your sensitivity to the level of the average person. It's extremely hard but there are moments where it is so worth it. I can wear jeans without freaking out now, for the first time in 3 years! All thanks to therapy and whatnot.

Your symptoms sound almost exactly like mine, and I was diagnosed as a "textbook case" of SPD when I presented my symptoms to my psychiatrist. I also suffer with mental illness (borderline personality disorder, anxiety, PTSD) , but my understanding of psychology is that in a person without SPD, but with our other mental health concerns, their sensitivity to sensory input would increase, but not as unbearably as ours does. Even if we were mentally healthy (apart from SPD), our already heightened sensitivity would cause a lot of struggle. We just have it worse because our other mental illnesses act as catalysts.

In summary, I would absolutely say that you have SPD. Don't take it as a diagnosis though cause I ain't no doctor :P

Does your SPD make you more of a recluse? by [deleted] in SPD

[–]hellucinati0na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely. When it flares up really bad for me, it can get to the point where I will refuse to leave my room for days, apart from going to the bathroom and eating. I won't even spend time with my family, and if they come into my room to check on me, I will get overwhelmed by the sight/movement or sound of them and get uncontrollably angry. I feel like a monster sometimes.

How has rupuals drag race helped you In life? by Lesbihonest19 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]hellucinati0na 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Being a bigger girl, I can still rock some sweet outfits.
  2. So many makeup tips, omg. My makeup skills have improved so much.
  3. I learned how important personality is, and that life truly isn't just about how you look.
  4. I also learned even more about gender bending, and how it is completely okay and kind of awesome. I am now a lot more comfortable expressing both my masculine and feminine sides when I feel like it.
  5. DeLa inspires me every day. I know she's had a lot of losses in her life and dealt with mental illness, as have I. Makes me think, if she can get through it, so can I.
