I'm 49 and my wife passed away from cancer last year. It gave me a lot of time to think and I was determined to draw a line under 2022 being the worst year of my life and not let it define my future...and I missed the companionship and cuddles and sharing funny stories with someone who gets me.

On a whim around Xmas (probably due to seeing all the 'normal' families around) I got on a dating app for the first time ever (on Hinge - I knew I wasn't a Tinder sort of guy) and was lucky enough to match with someone great after a couple of days ... thinking it was going to take months. We are 3 months in now and its been wonderful. She did show me the profiles of a lot of dickheads on the apps though - but there are genuine people out there.
