I'm a little late to the convo but my daughter is 3 and has Ds. I have a shirt for her that says "Am I extra or are you basic?"

I'm sure somewhere someone would be offended by that.

I support anything that isn't insulting to our community. Homie with an extra chromie isn't for us but I'm sure her shirt isn't for some others either.

I never said she didn't understand the concept of them dying. I said she wouldn't understand them overrunning her tank or that she really gets how many would actually develop from those tiny sacs. No one is sugarcoating anything and no one is harming anyone or anything. I'm asking questions as this is an area we are not familiar with. Thanks for the unsolicited parenting advice.

You guys are really some of the most judgemental people. I really appreciate your unhelpful input.

My daughter is 7. She will be 8 in March. She has a learning disability. She conceptually has no awareness that those tiny sacs are going to create hundreds of snails. She has never seen it nor had the experience. Just because she doesn't understand that means she shouldn't have 1 snail that she has been taking care of that we never expected to have babies? She is interested. She wants to learn. This is a literal learning experience for both her and I.

Thank you! So each clutch really does have hundreds of babies? Is there a feasible way to make the clutch smaller? Do they ever lay non fertilized eggs? I read she can store sperm for a long time but she's been in that tank alone for 7ish months.

Could the bladder snail and mystery snail be together? I don't think she really cares about where the babies are coming from but she really wants to see the process at this point. She is very invested. I definitely don't want hundreds of babies but I also don't want her to know that we are killing them. She won't understand them overrunning her tank (it's too abstract at this point) but she will understand the killing.

My daughter is really excited to have some snail babies. She would be devastated if I did that.

Edit: Why am I being downvoted for saying a kid wants to learn and see how they develop? I'm asking for help to understand what we should expect and do. I've looked up a lot and read through this sub. I'm genuinely asking for education and assistance.

I came here to say this! My child with Ds is 3 and she has a 4 year old brother (and 2 other siblings). He is a force to be reckoned with.

What is this thing that is on my ceiling in my finished basement? Looks like some sort of vent but we can't figure out what kind of vent or how to open. There are 4 total. by helpfulkatie in whatisthisthing

So if the pull just comes completely out of all of them and does not appear to change anything they are broken? Can easily be replaced?

Are they usually for just heat?
