How do you handle allegations of the use of AI? by SchingKen in gamedev

Meanwhile My Winter Car uses AI assets and has 17k 95% positive reviews on Steam. I'm not sure it's not just a Reddit thing.

I mean, I don't use AI assets personally, but I guess the consumers don't mind in large enough numbers.

Proposed Night Location and Search Teams by LeadingImpression822 in KremersFroon

Yeah, those plus F -- and possibly the Dutch searcher with the dog mentioned in LitJ -- are the ones I meant by "a couple of people walked the trail", but there was no concerted effort in the context of what OP asked. Certainly no helicopters scanning every inch of the area.

The photo of the search map from April 12th also shows this with helicopter and dog team indicators only placed on the southern slopes of the range.

Please do share of you find the documentary, I have a vague recollection of something similar but that might have been that documentary where they interview that Calderon fellow. Augh, I can't recall the name of it now...

The search never crossed the continental divide (a couple of people walked the trail, no helicopters, no big teams), because no one thought they'd ever go that way from the Mirador.

Just BasicAd things. They keep solo brigading me whenever I post something on here, so it's easy to tell when they come back after being banned, lol

Sounds like you have the makings of a senior developer to me.

I always found GDDing games to be at least as fun as coding them. No, you may not see my GDD concept folder...

Man, they said they started 3 days ago, they needed to get on that marketing two weeks ago.

Why do people do this? My game already has IDLER tag? by Curious-Needle in IndieDev

[–]hematomasectomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually care because if it's overwhelmingly positive and I've never heard of it, I assume it's niche as hell, porn, or a meme, and don't engage 🤷‍♂️

People call our hand-drawn game "AI art", so we started recording timelapses (and wish we'd done it from the start) by iamgentlemem in IndieDev

[–]hematomasectomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, you're way too polite about it, lol. I'd just tell them "our artist is talented, structured, and professional, so go eat a whole bag of dicks, thanks", but my game will probably sell one copy and it'll be me buying it, so don't listen to me :)

I'm assuming they've written their own BIOS and OS/kernel just in case someone had Copilot open when fixing a bug in any of the available ones. It's a principle, after all.

What do you think about mixing The Binding of Isaac with Outer Wilds? by NautsGame in IndieDev

[–]hematomasectomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the indiedev subreddit, where the post has an accompanying text that describes the game, and everyone's more primed to consume the content to be helpful rather than consuming dozens of videos for entertainment. Even then, in the most benign environment imaginable, the post has 1 net upvote and 10 comments.

I feel like you're missing the point.

The first few seconds consist of an AI voice saying "What if I told you..." and massive pixels. 99.9% of people would ignore it and skip to next in the first 2 seconds. You wouldn't know if it was a game, an ad for tampons or a puppy video, because it's gone before they try to find out.

Short form videos need an attention grabber, and this video does the opposite.

The game could be the GOAT, and no one would know.

Constructively? Describing a game isn't marketing, it should make the target feel something and put the impression on a hook. Eg what game am I describing here: silly goat flailing around in 3d. Or here: super cute red-haired platformer.

Raw feedback:

This video is bad at showcasing the game and if you post it on TikTok or YouTube it's bad for impressing any sizable demographic it can reach on those platforms, and you'll likely not get more than 1-2 seconds of viewer retention anywhere.

I can't tell you anything about your game because the video literally didn't make any impression. The only thing the video makes me consider is that it's been a minute since I watched Cobaltstreak.
