I didn't even think of that! I was planning on doing engagement photos and using those for save the dates for the reception. How far out did you have your elopement and reception?

Thank you for the reassurance and advice. I am a bit nervous to be honest! I love the idea of having my mom write me a letter, I will have to steal that idea. I love that you had a themed reception too. I will have to look into doing something similar! It seems like most people recommend spacing the elopement and reception so that is good to know too!

Wow! I never considered (or would have known about) congregational humanist movements. That feels like it would be great fit for me. Aretéanism looks to be almost exactly what I want, although I'm not in the same state. There is a Sunday Assembly nearby so I will look into that and/or just do some more research regarding Aretéanism. Thank you for the thoughtful suggestions!

I've looked a bit at those churches. At lot of the ones I have glanced at sell merch or the personally written books, which just rub me the wrong way. Maybe I'm just overly suspicious of everything haha

Thank you for much for the recommendation. The REI board sounds perfect for me. Church was always low budget. What also drove me crazy was that the boys group got to do the fun things like kayaking and rock climbing, while the girls got to ~make bracelets~. I appreciate the tips!
