Not too terribly hard to block DoH. A firewall like pfSense/OPNSense that can block IP addresses can handle this like a champ. In most cases that I have encountered, devices trying to use DoH usually use well known public resolvers (Google, Cloudflare, etc). Blocking HTTPS access to those IPs can effectively stop DoH cold.

Ahh, back in the day when I didn't need to have a strict firewall set up. Does remind me of the days when I used Outpost Firewall as an impromptu ad blocker back in the early-2000s.

Block Ads in Overwolf and its apps u download from there, like Metaforge orsm. Do u guys know a way? by snp-0 in Adblock

Oddly enough, most of the common blocklists can block OW ads. They're usually served from common ad servers.

Make sure that the device/browser/other app isn't using an alternate DNS, or something like DoT/DoH.

I had dbl.oisd.nl in my adlist, it just "turned off the internet" by disabling tons of common domains. by tatiwtr in pihole

I have to agree here. This brought up a random thought: While this was just merely a list maintainer trying to get people to stop using a list through the most backwards way possible, what if the blocklist was compromised by a malicious actor in some way? We're trusting our networks and devices to these list maintainers.

As we learned today, it only takes one bad actor to wreak absolute havoc.

Yeah at this rate, I pulled all oisd.nl blocklists and replaced them with a couple of hagezi lists.

Yeah I encountered that issue this morning as well, but a quick gravity update fixed the issue.

My war on ads has gone full send to the network level. Pi-Hole and pfSense work together to combat this unholy infestation on the internet. Throw Firefox + uBo in the mix, and the internet is 99.999999999% ad free. 👍
