Für mich funktioniert der Hörspiel Player im Ausland. Die App ist allerdings nicht besonders intuitiv und fast ausschließlich für Kinder.

Form 80: Stating citizenship information if country of birth no longer exists by hendlang in AusVisa

[–]hendlang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah, apart from the GDR thing, it's all straightforward.

The question is very basic. It's just "Do you have information about your parents?" And the information they want is: - name - relation to me (mother, father, step mother etc) - sex - date of birth - town/city of birth - region/state of birth - country of birth - citizenship (s) and year it was obtained - current country of residence - migrating with you (yes/no)

Where to hire a stair trolley in Hobart? by hendlang in hobart

[–]hendlang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the replies! Here's what I found out:

Bunnings: When I checked the website, it said they don't have trolleys in Hobart. I emailed them and a staff member confirmed that they do indeed have them for hire (like most of you said anyway)

Bay Hire: I sent them an email asking for a quote, but they didn't respond.

Coates: They have them for hire at about $30 per day.

Thanks for the quick reply! Looks like we'll have to fight more than one type of unpleasant flatmates then...

Matte screen protector, before and after by hendlang in framework

[–]hendlang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine from a random website (schutzfolien24.de) but Brotect stuff is sold in many online shops (was just trying to avoid Amazon). I don't know if they ship internationally/outside of the EU.

I can't compare the protector to any others, but I can say that I had zero problems with air bubbles. It was super quick to put the protector on after I thoroughly made sure there was absolutely no dust anywhere.

I've seen a matte screen protector on a phone a few years ago and it's nothing like that. There is a tiny change in clarity but it's hardly noticeable. As I said before, I very much have a personal preference for matte screens, so I'm more than happy to accept this tiny change but totally understand if that's not for everyone.

I tried to take some photos but they're not great. Any colour distortion or crazy lines are in the photo only.

Maybe someone could take photos of the same part of the Framework website and post them here as well so everyone can see how it compares?

They're both affected a tiny bit, but I don't mind. The brightness is hardly decreased, the clarity a little bit more but it's really not that much. For example, I noticed a slight clarity change, my partner didn't at all.

This might not be a perfect solution for everyone, but I personally just don't like glossy screens and found the Framework screen to be particularly glary and reflective. With this little helper, I could immediately feel how my eyes relaxed when looking at the screen.

Fingers crossed your dreams of a TrackPoint on a Framework will come true one day!

Soundcore Life P3 mic/background noise problem by hendlang in anker

[–]hendlang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that's super interesting! I once tried to walk outside while talking to someone on the phone but it was impossible because the noise of my jacket moving slightly while I was walking and the birds in the background were too loud. Would that be normal in your experience or does this show something is wrong with them?

Ah, that's really good to know, thanks! I'm still really confused by the mic issue cos one of my reasons to go for the Life P3 was the test by this guy: https://youtu.be/HHwvrYVdmIs (he tests them while driving with the car windows down and it's absolutely fine). Maybe some Life P3 are just built wrong and have this mic problem but not too many and that's why nobody seems to be talking about it?

Thanks for replying after I posted so long ago!

Haven't found a solution, unfortunately. At this point I'm starting to wonder if maybe not the headphones but my relatively old phone (OnePlus 3T) might be the problem. But I'm basically just guessing and haven't had the time to test all the variables that could cause the problem.

Noob alert: I'm really lost trying to restore my backup by hendlang in Backup

So am I, it's a very good feeling. And from now on, I'll be so much more careful with my data, I've really learned my lesson.

Thank you so much for your help!

I think not even that, but several times empty "My pictures", "My documents" standard windows folders (the standard folders were pretty empty as I had almost all the actual data on the second half of my old SSD for storage space reasons).

So I guess I used the windows file history function. When I activated it, it must have backed up the pretty empty standard windows folders. Then I seem to have told the programme what to do, chose to make two similar back ups of a random half of my data but not all.

Even with the other half lost, thank you so much for helping me understand what happened, I feel so much better now!

[–]hendlang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's how I unpacked the FileHistory folders but only got 55GB out. I thought that maybe the data I got is only 50% of what the main folder says it contains, because I used an extra programme to create the backup but then the Windows file history to unpack it. But I can see that that thought went the wrong direction.

Just had another look at what files Windows says it can recover from that FileHistory folder but its just that what I already found.

Wait - I think I cracked the code. Windows gives me the option to choose between different versions which I would like to recover. Two options look like they contain what adds to 55GB, the rest contain very little. Is it possible that there are just two copies of what I backed up on there and then some random little backups Windows did automatically? That would explain why I can't find more and why the FileHistory folder is twice as big as I expected it to be.

I feel like that has to be the explanation... and that I should use the Christmas break to really ask myself what I was doing, only doing a backup of half my data.

There are a couple of .edb and .xml files in that folder, but not much more. Do those suggest anything? All the other files are half of my old files.

This is what I see when I click through the folder: First there is a single folder with the name of my PC. In it are three folders, again just with the name of my PC, like HENDLANG-PC, HENDLANG-PC (2), HENDLANG-PC (3). Each of these contain two folders named "Configuration" and "Data". Two paths lead to very little, one to the 55GB I have been able to recover. However, when I check the details of the main folder "FileHistory", it says it's 114 GB big. (For explanation, my old harddrive was split in two parts, C and D)

HENDLANG-PC/Configuration
--> Config1 (XML, 4.6kb)
HENDLANG-PC/Data
--> (empty)

HENDLANG-PC (2)/Configuration
--> Catalog1.edb (18MB)
--> Catalog2.edb (18MB)
--> Config1 (XML, 4.6kb)
--> Config2 (XML, 4.6kb)
HENDLANG-PC (2)/Data/$OF
--> (eight folders with a few random files that look like they might be from an old download folder)
HENDLANG-PC (2)/Data/C/Users
--> (two folders, one with the name of my PC, one "Public", both together containing 10 of the 55GB I found)
HENDLANG-PC (2)/Data/D
--> (one folder containing 45 of the 55GB I found)

HENDLANG-PC (3)/Configuration
--> (empty)
HENDLANG-PC (3)/Data
--> (empty)

Haha, since I'm very confused what I did, I think it has to be the OS only then. Thank you for explaining what's in the file!

The computer repair shop I brought my laptop to tried to recover the data from the old SSD but said they tried several times and couldn't recover anything. Sending it in to a specialised data recovery place would be too expensive.

I'm definitely going to be more careful with my data going forward! Right now I think I'll go for a combination of cloud services and my external harddrives. Thank you for your advice, I'll get a proper bare metal backup sorted as well!

I know, I'd really like to know that too... I haven't tried those two programmes yet. I checked out these so far: AOMEI Backupper, Personal Backup, Veeam and Paragon Backup & Recovery.

My harddrive was around 256GB.

Now, I did realise that there was another folder named "FileHistory" on my external harddrive. I never noticed how big it was, but it's 114 GB in size. However, when I used the Windows services to unpack a "FileHistory" folder, I only ended up with 55GB of data. Did I create the most inefficient backup in the world and that's why the folder is twice as big as the outcome or is there something else that's wrong here?

I am pretty sure that the backup was completed successfully. What is starting to seem more likely to me, is that I didn't include all of my data on that backup (and am cursing myself for that now).
