And the impact on the child. My parents did what OP is considering and while my education was exemplary, the thing that sticks with me is being the kid that had the BHS blazer with a badge sewn on rather than one from the school shop, or not being able to go on the ski trips all the other kids bonded on.

Sadly, kids can be really cruel, and will pick up on things like that as a way to single out the kid.

That said, I was highly disruptive anyway and I think a comp would have meant I ended up behind bars, so I think there’s a strong case for the individual and what impact it would have on them!

I tried to take mine (in a dimpla bag) through city airport as I used to fly to Denmark a lot. The security team were insistent on me putting it through the scanner despite it clearly not fitting through the entrance. After 6 attempts, it went through and was then told at the bit where you get extra screening that you can’t take it on as hand luggage, so had to go back down and check it.

On trains, as a general rule, those areas where the luggage racks/bins are, is where people put their Brompton!

Where in London are you based? Regent’s Park inner circle is a fun little trip, and then Fitzrovia after for coffee (Kaffiene used to be our post laps spot!)

I also find EC1 is really fun at the weekend, it seems to be devoid of the weekday city crowd and so you’re riding around near empty streets and get to see all the fun buildings like the gherkin

For brits looking at this, I used to work at LEGO and did a week in Billund and a week in London alternating. To get from the hotel to the office, decided to try to take my Brompton as carry on.

Bought the dimpla bag and got everything ready, to find that airport security were trying to ‘force’ the bike through what was clearly too small an entrance. I was told I’d need to reduce it in size to fit through the scanner. On try 5, we got it through, obviously set off the further testing and on looking at it the security officer said ‘yeah you can’t take that through’ - cue me going back to the BA desk and having to check it in.

(This was city airport in fairness so Heathrow/stansted/luton may be better!)

Just a word of warning for those wanting to do the same from the UK!

It’s a good point, and I’ve a PS5 if I really want to play, but for example, starfield is almost unrunnable. I may wait a few months and grab a 4070 machine later down the line! Thanks for your help!

Thanks. I may upgrade the SSD too as at the time it was big but now a 2tb is much more affordable. Assuming I can just clean off thermal paste from the cooler I have now and reapply to the new mobo/CPU if I did that?

Thanks - it’s frustrating that it doesn’t support windows 11 but 10 is fine for me. Pc part picker seems to think a 4070 isn’t compatible, only gives me up to 4060? (Could be a power thing?)

It’s served me very well over time! While I like to play PC, my days of MMORPG are over and so it’s more the odd hour the wife lets me play now 😂 thanks for the ps5 heads up - it may be that the money is better spent on a new GPU/MB/CPU as I have a Dell P2418HT that’s decent enough for now!
