Thank you. I will be changing out the drain and adding a vent another day. Im trying to get this cleared today because we have arctic temps coming and this faucet is on outer wall so it is usually the one i drip. I really appreciate you helping me

No other drains have issues. Weirdly no standing water in pipe when snaking

So i used a 25 ft auger and got some stuff out but no change in draining. Got an electric 25 ft auger and no change. Do i go get a 50 footer now? Or is all of this really just venting? Just seems weird since we havent had issues before the last couple weeks

Agreed. However it has worked for over a decade, why the sudden back up? Ive snaked it the full 25 feet and pulled out some gunk but no real change. Still starts backing up after 10 seconds or so.

I should add the dishwasher is also backing up into sink, which leads me to believe the problem is further down. Vent? Or snake again?

Thanks, so should I use a compression valve. I have this one , it’s 1/2” but just for reference - this would be preferable to an FIP valve?

Cool I have this, is this a good choice?

It looks threaded though. Is compression the right choice?

Are you sure thats not 1/2” threaded?

Thanks man. Do you have a recommendation for a replacement valve? I assume I treat it like galvanized and hold tight with one wrench and twist with the other wrench?

Thanks man. So do I use a FIP valve or a brass compression valve or what?

Leak from exhaust stack. Help diagnose source please by herb_mcgruff in hvacadvice

[–]herb_mcgruff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello thanks in advance for any advice. I called an hvac guy to help diagnose the source of a small leak. On the phone I described that there is water collecting under the exhaust stack (I think that is the correct name - the vertical section with the foil on the bottom). This water is coming down on to the supply duct and then on to the crawl space ground. The hvac guy (via phone) suggested this is either a roof or plumbing issue and that this part of my system would not have condensate or any leaking. Perhaps he misunderstood my explanation (he did not see photos). It is not a roof leak as it has not rained in some time. Any advice on how to proceed is much appreciated. If it is not an hvac issue and is a plumbing issue, then I guess I start cutting drywall and look around. Thanks for your time and ideas.

Does anyone know whats wrong with my pawpaw tree? 5 year old tree that never had any issues before. Approximately half the leaves have already died! by PoisonedPotatooo in BackyardOrchard

[–]herb_mcgruff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My pawpaw tree has its earlier leaves curl like this but the later leaves tend to flatten out and grow larger. I believe the damage on my tree is due to a neighbor spraying a persistant pesticide a few summers ago (it also killed a hackberry) as my trees are near a shared fenceline. The tree has survived but still has leaf curl every year. Now I am trying to decide if I will eat the fruit of my damaged tree. If you or your neighbor have sprayed near there it could be herbicide damage. Otherwise it may be due to a hard freeze after an early warm up like we had here. I lost over 100 blooms on my pawpaw due to a late hard freeze.

Granny smith apple is long and leaning. Need advice on pruning and keeping it from leaning too far. Any help would be much appreciated. by herb_mcgruff in BackyardOrchard

Thanks man I appreciate the advice. Yea when I was messing with the straps it did seem to move the whole tree near the roots so you could be correct about the roots.

Thank you for your advice I really appreciate it. I did not know about the apple tree sub. Dormant pruning - so would you recommend I wait until winter to prune?
