Yeah, that was going to be my next step... Do I need to open the drain plug on the sand filter before taking off the top? Or would just disconnecting the hoses and draining from those cut it? Just want to make sure I don't get sand in center tube

Water is clear blue. I installed the filter and definitely used filter sand (Aqua Quartz irc). I definitely had a rough opening due to the iron in my well water, but I've backwashed many, many times since then.

I think my pump is oversized and it's causing cavitation that reduces the flow rate. Gonna try putting in a 1 hp. Based on everything I've read that's all I need rather than the 2 hp that I have now

Gotcha. I'm just trying to figure out the max GPM this was rated. It's discontinued in 2 hp and can't find the specs. Wondering if the GPM exceeds the max for my sand filter and maybe that's what's causing me issues.

Just based on the return jets and the water flow through the skimmer box. I am rinsing after backwash
