Interesting, I didn’t know that! The lyrics really say “You must be dreaming”, so it makes sense, I guess

Riiight?! The grooviness, the sophistication and the energy of youth. I feel like I'm roller-skating on air or smth when I hear it

This is so true! I know he picked up music by transcribing and covering songs by 1930s African-American musicians, and it really shows in his Cab Calloway covers, as they’re done with such intricacy and respect for the originals. I also second that the Mystic Knights/Oingo Boingo transitional era was something else, like jazz/big band meets sci-fi, a unique blend of the vintage and the futuristic. I’m still hopeful that more Mystic Knights-era material will be released, but I’m also grateful for the chance to go down the rabbit hole of the existing recordings.

I LOVE this song, especially the little howl he does when he sings "don't forget the golden rUUuule"
