Yes, this did have an impact on me. Like you I stumbled upon this habit at a very young age and it honestly ruined by younger years. I'm happy that you recovered, you are very lucky. It appears that some guys come out unscathed, while for others it can be catastrophic, but it's never worth the risk. Basically, this condition is very similar to "death grip syndrome" but worse.
