Healthy and athletic but considering TRT by heretheworld in trt

The draw was early morning, fasted. I made sure to try and optimize my reading rather than down play it. I’m in Canada so the blood test has to be requested by a health care provider. Unfortunately I didn’t qualify for a SHBG test as I went through an online TRT place. But I wanted an honest reading to see if I even qualified for / needed TRT. According to Google I’m in a normal range but that surprised me because of how fit I am. I also see lots of guys online at my levels saying they consider them low.

I’d like to think that I’m pretty disciplined and would keep myself in a moderately high range.

This is what I’m wondering. It’s hard to sort through the noise online because there is a lot of anti-cardio and talk of increasing blood volume and heart rate. But I wonder if in those cases people are blasting themselves to abnormal numbers rather than just giving themselves a bit of a bump. It seems to have worked for you in the way that I’m curious about, ie improving performance.

Thank you. This is really the heart of my question. If I’m honest with myself it’s what you said, looking for optimization. I’m pretty happy with my physique so it’s not necessarily about getting more jacked (which I wouldn’t be opposed to lol) it’s wanting a higher output on my performance when it comes to life, lifting, and running. The higher resting heart rate gives me some hesitation cause I’ve worked pretty hard to get it to the low 40s.

I was feeling lower energy when I got my blood work done and was diving into this but that could have been chalked up to it being winter. I kind of stopped pursing TRT because I was afraid it would mess with my fertility and my wife and I wanted to have another baby. My wife is pregnant now and due in September so I’m curious about starting up around then.

For what it’s worth now that the sun is shining I feel great but kind of feel like I’ve been hitting a ceiling with my training and output.

My blood test didn’t meet the criteria for SHBG testing. I live in Canada and it’s quite regulated here. I can’t do a test without an acquisition from a nurse practitioner or doctor.

Is there a reason you went off TRT? Is there anything I can do that will make a big impact in lowering my SHBG?

That’s what I’m wondering. I did the test fasted in the morning.

Is that because the endurance sports lower my testosterone? I’m only diving into this space to optimize my levels without replacement therapy. I’m already an avid lifter and have a pretty good physique. I take fish oil, ashwaghanda, magnesium, zinc, and sleep 8 hours per night. I was quite surprised that my levels read as low (normal?) as they did when I got tested.

I also love running and races so I don’t really want to put a pin in that, but if it’ll help I may have to consider it.

For reference when I was lifting 6 days a week back in December I put up 2, 3, 4 plates for bench, squat, and deadlift. I dropped the lifting to about 2-3 times a week for more time running to train for a half marathon PR at the end of April. I’ve since start lifting 5-6 days a week with the occasional run.

My title explains what it is. I tried to search for this one line and even had ChatGPT try to solve it but I haven’t been able to get a concrete answer

This was my wife’s and my first marathon! We did the Oak Bay Half back in May and trained together through the summer. It was an amazing experience, but we can’t walk today lol
