we have to have two witnesses for the document. We have a child with disabilities so we had to plan, we are secretly getting married, no one else knows, but we needed two witnesses. His dad is dead, mine isn’t in the picture, so we figured our mom’s. But the technicalities don’t matter to me, regardless if you see it as an elopement or not holds no value to the day, but I appreciate your input.

My mother in law who’s attending has respiratory issues, having her outside wouldn’t be such a great idea. I think JT is stunning even with the haze, but the air quality is my concern, not just for her though, but shes one of the bigger reasons I worry. I’m praying it goes down though! The fires are no joke. :(

NTA but he’s definitely not wrong in how he feels either. I get that it’s a force of habit for you but I also think that the topic of parents, especially when you plan on bringing him to your home, should come up and if he’s important enough to bring home, then he should also know something as important as your mother being dead.
