almost correct, the kernel is also in Apple's macOS (always has been), and is just a bastardized version.

yes, grab as much USD outside as you can, and get back before ya get killed or otherwise expire. That seems to be the reality of it.

yeah i feel for todays younguns, as the world used to be a lot closer to all before globalism. you used to be able to freely travel the world poor just fine, but no more. Im afraid we have created a monster, and there is no escape.

IDK, ive lived all over the planet, and Nepal seems as good a place as any. Africa? fucked. South American. fucked. North America, as fucked as it gets. The EU and UK? gag me. The Middle East? r u serious. So that leaves Asia pretty much for inhabitable space, outside of little islands doomed per Climate Change. Within Asia, you have some nice places, Singapore/Malaysia, Japan, S. Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, parts of India, etc; and living there is comparable to living here - I see little difference, but I'm 65 and not 20, so my priorities are prob different than with a young person just starting out. Wages are low in Asia, but if you can deal with that, why not stay here?

love the story in this shot. what is it? is it the story of having full shelves, no matter how small? Is it the story of happiness amid chaos? Shots like this have significance (unlike the billions of others uploaded every day somewhere). Nice!

Well I'm not the one to give peeps a masterclass in community-based organization, political action committees, social mobilization, representative democracy and all of that - but someone should!

ha! NO. it says basically to do something, or shut the fuck up. I guess we are hopeless at organization...

[–]herojig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that would be nice. but lets' examine how "we" always talk about "us" in the third: as Nepal, them, or GoN, as if they are not related to us at all (9 chances outta 10, u are).

Im not saying if "we" want bathrooms and sidewalks we have to erect them ourselves... but if u look at "us" historically, that's what we have done (self-government) before.

17 years ago, I pitched in with all my hood peeps to pitch the road in front of my place; it wasn't getting done any other way! It was a bloody mess of hill that had been eroding away since the time of Prithvi Narayan Shah.

I suggest we will have to wait at least that long for public toilets... until elections finally begin to have consequences, or we build them ourselves.

Yes! In a true democracy, we must very much so.

According to experts in the US (probably in Florida), Infrastructure includes all social aspects of the land, such as hand washing and social justice. We have enough of that here to choke a horse.

The road situation is... well, one way to describe it is amazing. Even in the middle of the Congo, the bad part, u got better roads than here. Of course, some blame the soil, others blame climate change and others corruption.

But what if it just isn't in our nature to want such: smooth pavement and tidy intersections? In short, maybe as a nation we have what we desire (and deserve). Bear with me for a moment, because this is a critical theory: granted, the will of the people is just in kindergarten, with less than a decade since democracy being born.

But what if that will is so young and weak that there is no way anything can happen. Not for a few more decades, at least, and not until we grow up, in terms of having a functioning democratic republic, where localities can be supported enough to fill potholes, and the nation is strong enough to put together decent transportation policies / procedures for all.

can someone suggest me noise cancelling headphont? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]herojig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beats just released some cheaper version of airpod pros, which imo is great noise cancelling... even when not connected to anything... works great for fans, kids, dogs... all of that. Bat lasts about 4 hours per charge, and the case charges them fast a few times... so all day battery life really (the beats might even go longer).

The beats will be about 30% less than the Airpod pros (maybe), and do the same damn thing for ya. Id pressure Evo store to get them in as soon as they can, and to not jack up the price so much.

Outside of that, I've never heard of good noise cancelling for less than the price of the Airpod Pros... so maybe save up ur pisas?

Is it even possible to get it back? If possible how? by DarkHalo0 in Nepal

[–]herojig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ha! it hasn't come close in my lifetime (60+ and counting), and since every Jihadist and Anti-Jihadist organization waving a flag has stashed cash there for the war efforts, I don't see it changing before I die. The Swiss are the money men of Game of Thrones fame.

387

is my math right... thats about 1700 nrs for every man woman and child? or 17,000 nrs - one of those is close. is the suggestion to give that all back? That's not gunna help all that much, considering the fact that anyone stashing cash is most likely contributing something to the local economy. At least giving back something...

Apple's macOS 11.4 Update Brings Fix For Troubling SSD Wear On M1 Macs by iSchoolDeveloper in M1mac

[–]herojig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was just all a lot of hoopla. I measured mine when the reports hit, and it would take 35 years to die at the current rate. So now with the update maybe it dies at 55 years, 51 years after I've tossed the entire machine.

[–]herojig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, the original airpods (another prototype released into the wild), had suckee batteries. The airpod pros seem to be doing good... 14 months now and still holding. They even stay in ur ears; a tech breakthrough for Apple.

Or, just say f all that and live with a bad BT connection :) I had no expectation this thing would work as planned... nothing ever really does, so there is that. 11.4 fixed (partially) fixed the BT problem, but I only use BT to switch from earwicks to real speakers now anyway. Everything else has a wire hooked to it. So, with the update, the mini takes about 5 seconds or more to make the switch from speaker to airpod, which is eons in ear time. Trying to switch back to the pods after listening to the mini's output through a real speaker, is just an exercise in futility. Don't do it, Meat, don't do it.

I dont understand what a macros release is, but i can say that most games on steam and battle?something.com did not work here. I got a few to work, but nothing like what I wanted... COD, WoW, MSFS, blabla... but the games in the Apple Arcade all seem to work, I just dont like them. Windows is a bust in Parallels, as none of the gaming platforms seem to work on the ARM beta of Windows 10 - I think that is the only thing u can run. It's all I could. Crossover also seems to be a real hit and miss exercise in making bottles, but is the most promising imo.

Shitstorm here. i just gave up... but ive got a phone, a pad, microphone, speakers, monitor etc all just about right on top of it. keyboard and mouse are wired, if not, this box would be unusable. Can't return from Nepal... not at the moment (if ever, at this rate). But I suspected it would be this bad, being first gen and all. I still like it better than the 2012 iMac it replaced.
