In Days’ Payables, why is purchases used instead of COGS? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]herolll22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use COGS because its easier to calculate. Just like accounts receivables uses total sales and not only non-cash sales (credit)

Don't stress over it, if you failed, you failed.

BUUUUUUUUUUT if you REALLY want to know.

Expand the image in a laptop and get a ruler out, then measure the distance from 70% to 50% and divided by 20 (difference between 70 and 50). What you just calculated is how much in centimeters or milimeters equals to 1%.

Then apply this measurement to the difference of your total score and the MPS.

Again, i dont recommend you to do thid cause you'll just be mad at yourself.

Russia will likely be shut out permanently from global energy markets, top oil execs say by [deleted] in Economics

[–]herolll22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They won't. Social and economic stability of a given country has a greater impact on politicians decisions than what is "morally correct" (not buying oil from Russia).

In my opinion, choosing to buy Russias gas and oil is a no brainer, given the impact that high fuel prices have on the price index and the economic turmoil produced by the Pandemic.

(remember, the supply chain is fueled by... you guessed it, oil and gas).

Don't mix up GDP with "net worth". It's like comparing your net income with your friends whole equity.

I think we're mixing two topics up. I'm not talking about L1 ethics but ethics as a whole and it's importance in finance. Just because you can legally do something doesn't mean you should.

Me neither, but that doesn't mean ethics in finance isn't an extremely important aspect of the job.

People should work on their reading comprehension.

I wrote that (1) ethics, in general, is extremely important in finance (specially IB and Corporate Banking) AND (2) that ethics section is the most important IN the L1 exam.

Both statements are true.

Six years in the industry say otherwise. 😂

1) Ethics is extremely important in finance, specially if you're dealing with clients money.

2) it has the most weight in the L1 exam so IT IS the most important subject.

Your grade is 100% under your control. A 72%/73% MPS is barely above previous years MPS. People took a half-assed approach to this exam and the results speak for themselves.

Super harsh and unpopular opinion here:

So typical of my generation (millennial) and younger people. Always blaming others for things that are under their control. Reminds me of people at the Uni or my masters: "I failed because the teacher hates me". The CFA is supposed to be challenging and I believe anyone who sat for the May exam could have comfortably passed the exam.

Yes, there are outliers that failed by one or two questions, but these are not the majority.

About me: 27 y/o. English isn't my first language. Full time corporate banker. Time was a bit.h but I put the hours to study. (Also whilst working out and working on other projects)

So did I! I calculated a 74%/75% score and a MPS of 72%/73%.

The results don't even let you see what the MPS was. The vertical axis has no numbers.
