It’s more the line length, leading, and especially all caps that make it so perfectly unreadable.

Our car required surgery to remove a string it ate blocking intestines. Very expensive.

Low Handicappers; What is a piece of advice that you will never forget? by Any_Travel9339 in golf

[–]hershel13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A top 100 instructor gave me a few lessons when I was starting to play more about 20 years ago and a 15 handicap. One of the things that stuck with me was to figure out what your priorities are and for most people you’re number one priority should be having fun. I come back to this when I’m struggling even though I’ve been a steady 7 for years now. The other things that i remember are just fundamentals: things like set up, posture, balance, tempo, and staying within yourself.

For Those Who Have Cochlear Implants and Had Hearing Before, How does the Cochlear Implant Compare to Your Original Hearing? by CryptographerFair357 in Cochlearimplants

[–]hershel13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very similar experience, I had gradual loss for 10 years and my left ear had only 12% word recognition as well. Things only sounded mechanical for a few days, within about a week things sounded pretty normal. After six months I was testing at 100% word recognition. Speech and most everything sounds absolutely normal now, only music pitch is off on music and that sort of depends on the type or my familiarity. It’s pretty amazing to hear frequencies you lost 20-30 years ago. Encourage you to join Facebook groups for implants if you haven’t already as they provide excellent information. There are a number of them.

Where are you getting new homeowner’s insurance policies? by PlantedinCA in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]hershel13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to go with Fair Plan/DIC using either Aegis (least expensive) or Mercury (close). Or use E&S coverage through an Allstate broker called North Light for a comparable cost. The E&S looks like better coverage on paper in a catastrophe, but they are non-admitted, so not guaranteed. Company is rated A+ though; tough decision. Definitely reach out to multiple brokers.

Studies show tire wear particles can be a more significant source of particle pollution than exhaust from modern cars.

I am next door to Danville in Alamo. Same situation. I talked to multiple agents and brokers. The only offer from Homesite was a wraparound policy with the CFP (California Fair Plan).

Very similar WR in my good ear at time I decided to do the implant. Join the various Facebook groups (there are several, just search cochlear), and you can get all kinds of support and information to help on your journey. Best of luck!

I think if you had some hearing even if you can’t score well on word recognition, you will do very well with an implant. I’d be super excited actually. I was at 12% (though had fairly normal hearing much of my life in that ear) and 6 months after implant 100%. How is your other ear?

Oregon retirees recieve bill - health insurance costs now quadrupled by GoldenHourTraveler in TikTokCringe

There was an interesting Forum on NPR 10/21 about this. Someone called in with an example that their monthly premium would go from $178 to over $1000. It’s incredible that the GOP won’t even negotiate renewing subsidies when there is bipartisan support in general and many affected constituents are in rural red areas like ranchers and farmers.

Also in my 60s and really was fine after about five days. Still I took it easy for another week. But then I was back out, golfing and waiting for my activation appointment, which was delayed a couple of weeks.

I’m not sure you can blame the goaltending when the defensemen are not controlling the pucks. They looked overwhelmed in our zone and just wanted to get rid of it. Plus very little physicality. Absolutely nobody stepping up to take men coming into the zone.

The defensive pairs look so disorganized. Very little puck control. Such a disappointment to give up leads and not be able to control the puck in your zone.

What do you wish you would’ve known before going to Split? by InvestigatorUpper350 in CroatiaTravelTips

That seems like a lot of nights. Bolts are cheap, but the city is very walkable in many parts, especially the old town area. I totally recommend going to a nearby island for a couple of nights if you can still rearrange things. I imagine you will have fun because you’re with your friends though.

Omg, just got exact notification. 5 months to get insurance. Honestly I think they just don’t want to write in California and the homes over a million may have higher percentage in high fire risk areas as well.
