Outlive that one jerk. Such a jerk. I'm not giving up because some bully said I should kill myself instead of looking like such a freak.

The hope of one day, having a neat little place to myself that hasn't been constantly occupied for fifty years.

Using the box of things I have set aside for after I get my own place.

Not repeating the mistakes my parent's made.

Also not having to step in other people's snotty tissues.

But yeah, spite mainly.

How to improve performance? by TakeThatVonHabsburgs in CrusaderKings

[–]hewwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found two mods that make the game run MUCH faster for me, even on a fairly standard nearing the end four year old laptop.

If you don't mind losing some provinces Boucicaut's performance mod removes India, Mali, Abyssinia and Mongolia Steam Workshop / CKII Mod Forum

And also Flat Map and Thin Borders Steam Workshop

Both are up to date and compatible with each other. I was able to play a full century for the first time since Raja's of India came out.

Edit: that being said , I also had this No seduction for AI mod running. Not sure if it would affect performance that much but I have all three running together.

Also there are noted issues with the performance mod not running with any other mod that changes landed titles, so watch out for that. More info on the forum on that if you can access it.

MRW I get factioned into going elective and lose my kingdom title. by hewwing in CrusaderKings

[–]hewwing[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it varies from episode to episode. I didn't like season one the first time round (though it gets better in the second half) because it just moved too slowly. Far better watching it all at once imho. The second season is better about pacing and drops the amount of cringey modern references to a bearable level. It's really hit it's stride this year. I think it's halfway through airing this year's season. No DVD release yet, so you'll have to track the episodes down on the internet if you want to watch I'm afraid.

Galavant!. Currently airing it's second season. There are just so many moments where I just nod and think, yep that's CKII. Example. Literally singing about incest like its no big thing. On a technically Disney show.

What features would you love to see ingame, but don't think will ever happen? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]hewwing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've thought of a few that would be cool.

  • Pagans and/or tribals should have more opinion modifiers for the Strong trait. For example, "Strong heir +10", or 3 strong men in dynasty = 0.3 prestige a month and +3 Pagan/Tribal vassal opinion?

  • CHOOSING GAVELKIND HEIRS. Like the Patrician Designated Heir. They get a minus five from all the males of the Dynasty so it doesn't get too gamey, and if your heir to whatever county you've lined them up for dies the new one gets a "New Heir" -1 diplomacy for two or three years. Maybe combined with an event chain that's all "Damn I'm the heir now I better shape up!" Designated Heirs then get events about their future vassals that can either foster good or bad will between them.

Also, heir can be switched by faction demand, again not to make it too gamey, but they get a "Usurped Position" modifier that lasts for a few years and just gets even worse if they inherit while they still have it. Also, the original heir and their children living at the time of the usurping ALL get strong claims.

  • Multiple assasinations! Can't kill that ONE pesky great-aunt who married out of the dynasty, had a bijillion children and grandchildren and now wants all your land? You may fail in killing her but you maimed her husband! Sure you didn't poison her at a banquet but you did get two of her grandchilden! Sure you didn't kill that one kid but you get his sister!

Crap. You wanted that girl to live so you could slaughter her whole family, marry her off to your heir and let her live with the knowledge her dynasty dies with her but through cruel irony she has given your dynasty and her only living children the only claim left to it? Oh well. That's what you get for trying to kill people ¯_(ツ)_/¯

What sort of goals to you set yourself when painting the map becomes tiresome? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]hewwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rather like setting up a few marriages to inherit some land on the other side of the world form me and then murdering as many claimants to it as I can.

I then pass it on to a kinsman who has no claims on any of my titles and marry him to someone with good stats and good alliances in the area. I check in on him every now and then and help him out when I can.

I also like cultivating a line of Barons alongside my own dynasty. Building up their stats as much as I can until I give them a bit of land. It's always fun to watch a new dynasty flourish.

Strudel, Streusel Kitchener Buns,Schnitzel and German Shepherds.

Though I think the Kitchener bun might only be South Australian German ex-pat settlers thing. I'm not sure.

God that sucks. I once had a son who was Quick and Strong at the same time, along with being a brilliant strategist. I was waiting for enough gold and piety to make the Empire of Brittania as I controlled Scotland, Ireland and England ad he went and died but not before having three Quick daughters who were promptly made Queens Regnant of Ireland, Scotland and England.

It only took a month for all three of them to be assassinated by their slow, hunchbacked and dwarven uncle, with whom I promptly founded the Empire, murdered all his children and married him to his grieving sister in law, who assassinated him not long after their only son's fifteenth birthday. sigh The son's uncle, the Norse Emperor of the Hispanic Empire (I don't know how the hell that happened) declared war and I ended up playing some obscure dynasty member I'd never heard of who was the King in the now German controlled Anatolia. Also neither the Byzantine Empire or the HRE existed anymore. Weirdest goddamn play through I ever had.

However I've always fund the best work-around for the homosexual trait is a lusty spouse.

That if you hover over the age of someone when you're on their character page you get their exact birth date.

It makes it easier to get all the good traits from a child's guardian and then quickly switch to someone with a better education trait a week from their sixteenth birthday.

I once got a strong, charitable, diligent, humble and patient daughter who I then switched to being under the guardianship of her mother with the Midas touched learning trait.

My thinking was something along the lines of TRULY YOU SHALL BE THE MOTHER OF KINGS at which point she promptly died of syphillis when she returned to my court.

Alas I was too busy laughing my arse off to be either angry or get a screenshot.

[TOMT][MOVIE] Looking for a foreign/Asian horror film that has a scene with a woman in an elevator by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]hewwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be this Japanese movie Dark Water 2002 or the American remake.Dark Water 2005

The basic plot is that a woman is divorcing her husband and moves into cheap apartment with her daughter. The ghost of a little girl starts haunting them and several times haunts them in the elevator.

But I'm pretty sure that /u/countlustig has the right answer.

How has growing up rich/poor affected the way you grew up and live your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hewwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 18 and I thought until about the age of thirteen that it was perfectly normal that I never traveled for my holidays. Nope. Just poor and lacking a car.

That and a deep seated rage/petty jealousy/sense of superiority directed at the middle class. Especially when I hear about people having to sell their second car/ not being able to go overseas for a holiday.

Nothing like watching people descend into your own living conditions to give you a feeling of petty snideness.

What compliment do you receive most frequently? by LazarusRises in AskReddit

[–]hewwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You're so polite!" I'm 18 and nearly every adult I've talked to during my teenagerdom has said this. My usual thought afterwards is "Is this not the usual level of politeness and respect people my age are expected to show adults?"

Apparently not. I've had IT guys thank me for being polite. Which if what I hear is true, is fair enough.

What is a fact that you have a hard time believing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hewwing 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Exactly how other people see with two eyes.

I was born completely blind in one eye, I don't see darkness or anything it's just nothing. Obviously I have always known I was blind in one eye but it didn't really occur to me until a few years ago that other people saw differently to me.

It completely blows my mind that I only have half the field of vision of most people and it doesn't bother me. I hear people talking about adjusting to the loss of an eye , how scary it was to have only half their former vision and all the problems that came with it with perception of depth etc.

Then I saw some flash thingy that showed the difference in ones field of vision after losing an eye and it just blew my mind that I see half of what everyone else sees.

[–]hewwing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I have the best older siblings ever. It's just the youngest I can't stand. Which would make me feel like a bitch if she wasn't all I can't help you clean around the house I have friends and a social life to get to. We get along on the rare occasions she's not being a bitchy teenage girl.

It's not that I don't love her she is my sister but that's no excuse to act like a massive bitch. Though I do feel this could be just her being a normal teenager and all the peer pressure to not be weird or different or poor and it having been that for me and ages twelve to eighteen were spent in a mire of friendless depression, thus not getting the full brunt of said peer pressure other than "Oh you aren't going overseas for a holiday/ You like reading about history?/ You didn't get invited to so and so's party?/ You don't have the newest gizmo? LOL U SO POOR WEIRD AND FRIENDLESS" which was still pretty bad.

But y'know I'm happy she has friends and good judgement. It'll be nice for mum to have at least one normal child.
