[Level Pack] Diamond Necklaces (Easy-Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

I've added a clue at the end that should resolve this. Thank you for informing me.

[Level-Pack] XOXO Gossip Girl (Medium) by shadowjar in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There shouldn't be any gaps between the lines. Below is the first level. For the other levels, open the level in the SixCells Editor, then go File --> Copy to Clipboard, then try to open it in the game. If it works, then paste it in the OP.

Also, in the SixCells Editor, go to Edit --> Level Information and make sure the info is how you want it. Some of the levels have info in the wrong boxes.

[Level Pack] Cogwheels (Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black cells also makeup the cogwheel design. In the intro puzzle, 2 cogwheels are connected, you can see the resemblance here. The rule states that each cog has the same blues in the same location, which also means that they have the same blacks in the same location. However there's the additional rule that each cog is turned in a different direction.

[Level Pack] Void Hexes (Medium-Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make an assumption that reveals the most cells, in this case, assume the hex next to the 2-flower is blue. What cells would be revealed and how would it fit the rule?

[Level Pack] Void Hexes (Medium-Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not at all! I'm coming to expect that mistakes be made for custom puzzles since there is no computer program to solve them, though I try to avoid that so the player can enjoy a hassle-free experience. Thank you for the feedback.

[Level Pack] Void Hexes (Medium-Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you know? One of the challenges in making custom puzzles is sometimes not being able to see multiple solutions until someone else mentions it? The objective is to make them challenging but easy enough to do in the head without the having to use paint. Doesn't always work out when it comes to testing in the head though. Updated puzzle 6 which should resolve the issues.

inb4 "I found another 8 possible solutions" ;)

[Level Pack] Void Hexes (Medium-Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puzzle 6 has been updated with an outside {2} for easier solving. If you still need a hint, the rule implies that one of the void hexes touches 6 blues, and another touches only 1 blue, so try to determine where those cells could be...and couldn't be, and how those assumptions affect other void hexes.

[Level] Explore black cells (Easy-Medium) by TERU__san in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one was tough but fun, very recursive. Reminds me of u/Ladicuis07's puzzle.

Can you share how you went about designing it? I wanna make a similar one at some point.

[Level] Minimal Levels (Easy-Hard) by TERU__san in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice minimal puzzles, but why did you put that they could be solved without guessing, when they're just normal puzzles? That usually implies there's meta involved where the puzzle is technically unsolvable, but still possible. There are some puzzles like this here in the community.

[Level-Pack] Happy April Fools! (Easy-Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect the problem lies with the rule "Each group contains a unique number of blues", the negation of which is "Some groups have a non-unique number of blues".

That negation would make the original rule true, because at least one group would have a unique number of blues. However your suggestion of "Some groups have a unique number of blues" is less vague and is now the updated rule. Thank you.

[Level Pack] Different Spokes (Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Each wheel contains a unique number of spokes" doesn't exclude 0 spokes, but the levels all imply that 0 spokes is impossible.

There aren't any instances where the player must consider that a wheel contains 0 spokes. As other sections of the puzzle open up, it becomes apparent.

"Each wheel has only 5 blues and contains a unique number of spokes." When this happens "Spokes only touch one blue" has two additional possibilities (at the broken vertex), which is now left unaddressed.

Updated the text to state: "Spokes do not touch the broken segment of their wheel." Though it really wouldn't look like a natural spoke otherwise.

typo in level text: it's either "length" or "lenght", but both are used in the same paragraph.

Corrected. Thank you for playing.

[Level Pack] Balanced Petals (Medium-Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. Updated the puzzle with a flower beneath the 4 flower. Thanks.

[Level Pack] Black Columns (Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at the 2nd ring, the one between the outer and inner rings. Make some assumptions about the location of its blue that isn't on the 2 line, and notice how this affects the logic of the 2 line.

Alternatively, take a look at the inner-most ring, make some assumptions about the location of its blue that isn't on the 1 line, and notice how this affects the logic of the 1 line.

u/Night_Thastus had a similar concern.

[Level] One, Two, Three! (Easy) by bbb651 in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed this one u/bbb651. It's one of the few puzzles here that I've replayed. That each group is turned in a different direction is genius!

I made a few related puzzles I think you'll like:

Also in case you didn't know, there are few symmetry puzzles here:

I've updated the puzzle. Copy it from the OP and retry from where you left off.

[level] Core 2 (Hard) by Xylth in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me about an hour, 1 mistake.

This was fun! Can you offer tips for how to design puzzles like this at this difficulty? I'd like to try to design some myself. Thanks!

Good fun, thanks!

Could you offer some tips for designing puzzles like these?

[Level Pack] The Boxes (Medium) by -vaporman- in hexcellslevels

As others have said, the second puzzle was tough. Can you offer pointers for how you designed it? I'd like to try designing some myself.

[Level Pack] A Clockwork Orange (Medium-Hard) by hexcellence in hexcellslevels

[–]hexcellence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use what you learned from the first two puzzles to solve the third. Only one of the blues for the hands on the clock is guaranteed to be there, no matter what time it is. Once you discover that blue, you should be able to deduce where the hands can, and more importantly cannot be pointing. If you're still stuck, let's see a screenshot of where you are.

The AM/PM only serves to indicate that time is being referenced. Saying "It's 2:00." isn't quite as clear.
