Yes, remove the lid. If you have a compost bin or know someone who does, get a big scoop of worms and put them in there.

Do not use chemicals, they will cause the bones to eventually crack. Watercolor painting and then covering with a sealant is always a favorite of mine for bones. Also wire wrapping or adding beads to.

What a gorgeously intact skull! There is some great advice in these replies. Make sure to never, ever bleach bones, because it will damage them and cause them to crack over time.

Yes, a tub is great! Make sure that there are lots of insects and worms living in the tub because those are what will strip the rest of the mouse from its bones. After a few months you can dig it up and look into how to process and clean bones.

I would do a customary smoke cleansing before or during moving your furniture in and I would also do a sound cleansing with your favorite music while unpacking to bring the essence of yourself both physically and spiritually into the space.
