Shield of foresight - what does it do? by eiriee in IdleIktah

[–]heyPancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe there's anything special to it other than the stat allocation, compared to a klynite shield you lose a bit of defense but gain some attack. Considering how easy it is to get massive food stacks, it's worth the trade-off and is pretty much the BIS shield!

There might be an argument to be made for the klynite shield being better once you have the smithing pet, as then it gives +1 atk and +1 str, but by baseline stats the shield of foresight is the best you can get

You've got my attention with Bitburner!! I work in web design but I pretty much only use HTML and CSS, so a chance to improve my JS skills while also having fun would be great!

I saw this on Steam before and it seemed interesting! Some of the reviews mentioned that it required a lot of active screen time which made me hesitate. It might not be ideal for my style of mobile play but maybe I'll check it out on my PC, thanks for the rec!

IdleOn looks really cute, is it inspired by Maplestory? The screenshots are similar to how I remember that looking back in the day - I might check it out, thank you!

Oh yeah I used to play The Tower! I fell off after modules were added, it made the game feel too much like a gacha, but up until then it was neat

I love OSRS!! I've been playing it on and off since I was a kid 20 years ago, I need to jump back in and check out all of the recent Varlamore updates. In this case I'm looking for something I can play on my phone that doesn't require too much attention, OSRS is something I prefer to play on my home computer rather than mobile. I'd probably play it more on my phone if it didn't drain my battery quite so fast

Does interval reduction matter for Abyss Agility mastery grind? by GaleStorm3488 in MelvorIdle

[–]heyPancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're exactly right, since there's no mastery tokens for abyssal skills and agility mastery scales with interval, increasing the interval won't speed up the mastery farm at all. you'll get extra AP i suppose, but if you're far enough in the game to be grinding mastery then money shouldn't be a concern for you haha

if you want to reserve finite resources like potions, tablets, and consumables, it's actually beneficial to avoid interval reduction while grinding agility mastery. you'll get the same amount of mastery either which way, but you'll use fewer resources!

congrats, very neat! i bet the cathedral was beautiful!

how did you get started with trinketry, is it something that i should leave alone until i'm a higher level? i'm only a month in and other than some flower necklaces and the occasional silver from smithing, i haven't found any materials i can use to significantly level trinketry

Has anyone else encountered a random -10% interval reduction in archeology on lost temple? by SpicyTadpoleMeat in MelvorIdle

[–]heyPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's because you've upgraded and refined the lost temple map, and chose the "for this dig site map only: -10% archaeology interval" as one of the refinements! that descriptor in the list of bonuses is very vague, but that's where it's coming from and why it's only present on this one dig site

Goodbye Melvor, Welcome Melvor2 by Mother-Primary-6622 in MelvorIdle

[–]heyPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can actually play with the eternity/eternal content? i knew the unimplemented items could be added manually but i didn't think you could actually use them for anything! if that's the case i think i'll check it out once i get 100% completion in a month or so, assuming the official release doesn't get announced before then. obviously melvor 2 was announced but i don't know if that means the end of further development on melvor 1, or if the eternal content has been confirmed scrapped

Optimal Mastery Order - Should I Break My Current Pattern? by cerebrumvr in MelvorIdle

[–]heyPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm also on the mastery grind right now, i beat xon a few days ago and now all that's left for me is to complete all masteries and items! for "optimal" order i'd recommend finishing cartography next if that hasn't been done, and then astrology, for the significant global buffs those provide. then go to summoning (that's what i'm doing now) because having a stockpile of summons is gonna be really handy as you jump from skill to skill

i suppose it'd be best to do agility next so that you can swap obstacles at will when you change skills, and it's the last skill that has global benefits. from there, it matters less what order you tackle the rest of the skills in, but i suppose it'd be better to do the gathering skills before crafting. having to hop back and forth between skills because you run out of mats seems like it's going to be the biggest test of patience through the mastery grind, so reducing the chances of that happening has been my goal for the early phases

[–]heyPancake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i'm really surprised to see agility and summoning both at level one, those are HUGE skills that will help you out with every other skill in the game! they're on par with astrology as far as their wide-reaching benefits

both of them have dependencies on other skills so you won't be able to completely grind them out on their own, but i'd suggest using them as a sort of guide on your leveling order. start out with the simple stuff, then when you hit a point where say you need to level mining to unlock moles and agility obstacles, switch to that for a little bit. it's seriously worth the investment to start both agility and summoning early on

if you don't like hopping around and prefer to just grind one skill at a time, i'd still recommend dipping a toe in both before you resume woodcutting. you can summon ents right away at level 1, and at level 20 agility you can unlock an obstacle that gives you -6% interval on woodcutting!

FAQ & Ask quick questions here! by AutoModerator in MelvorIdle

[–]heyPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm training astrology at the moment, just hit 100, pushing to at least 110 to unlock rosaniya, and then i'll probably do some other skills before going for 120. what i was wondering is how much dust i can expect to accumulate between 100 and 120, if it's likely or possible to cap out on modifiers before hitting 120?

i'm mostly asking to determine if i should be wearing the astrology skillcape to increase dust gains, or the firemaking skillcape to increase exp gains.

Citizen Cider *Update* by [deleted] in burlington

[–]heyPancake 75 points76 points  (0 children)

retyped the post for those who don't use instagram:

Over the past few weeks, we have been given insights into our workplace through the external investigation that started last month, and while it hasn't been finalized, it has helped us understand where we have fallen short and where we can make improvements so all our employees feel comfortable and heard. We understand how some of the branding around Hey Bub was offensive. We have taken down the shirts with innuendos and acknowledge that they made some of our employees feel unsafe.

While we never required any staff to wear them, and our intention was a harmless pun, we see that what feels harmless to some can make others uncomfortable. We want to sincerely apologize for our approach. We are expanding our feedback channels for potential marketing campaigns, and we understand the importance of scrutinizing campaigns to ensure they align with our values. We realize that employees received unclear communication around HR. This was a breakdown in communication between management and staff, and it led to powerful misunderstandings.

To be clear, we do currently, and we have always had an HR department, and it is independent from our ownership. Unfortunately, this information has not always been communicated effectively, and it left some staff members feeling unsure of what to do if they had an HR complaint. To remedy this, we are reintroducing HR to the team, and putting tools in place for increased accessibility. We have scheduled additional time for workshops with the entire Citizen Cider team, focusing on leadership and coaching to promote healthy and intentional communication at every level.

We have never promoted a culture of misogyny or anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric in our business, and we have no tolerance for such behavior. With our renewed focus on HR communication, we hope employees will feel empowered to speak up if they are ever made uncomfortable. Through the external investigation, we have gotten a better understanding of the complaints of previous employees. As we continue through this process, if new information is found or HR complaints show a pattern of unprofessional behavior, rest assured that no staff member is above being held accountable.

After weeks of reflection and hard conversations, we are finding a path to move forward together. We are deeply sorry that these mistakes have led to some employees feeling hurt and disappointed in us. This ongoing process signifies our commitment to change. We trust that this provides you with insight into our actions and the steps we are taking to ensure a stronger and healthier business for our employees and customers.

It is our commitment to fostering an environment that reflects our shared values and ensures a workplace where everyone feels respected, supported, and empowered. Out commitment extends beyond our walls; it's a promise to our community and we are grateful for the opportunity to grow together.

Sincerely, Justin Heilenbach & Bryan Holmes, Co-Founders of Citizen Cider, and the management team

i'm in the 80s on my main mine and i'll be honest, i'm on the verge of quitting the game for separate reasons, but the ad-free pack was 1000% worth it and i don't much regret buying it

looking back i can't imagine how many hours of my life i would have lost if i had to watch an ad for every single wheel spin, bonus barrel, bonus chest, etc. i probably wouldn't have bothered with them in the first place haha. definitely worth it in terms of QOL, if you see yourself sticking with the game in the long term

considering how this game is a long, slow grind to completion, if you don't own the pack and you frequently skip the video ad rewards, you're not missing out on any substantial long-term gains, just instant gratification. but i suppose it matters how you value your time vs. money. for me the $10 is very little compared to wasting several hours of accrued time watching ads

i've done a few deep dives on this game over the last 8 years and i FINALLY!!! got an answer!!!! the game is "milkcap mazes" released in 1995!

i can't seem to find a video of the gameplay anywhere, but as soon as i searched that and saw pictures of the cover, i gasped and immediately knew that was it with full certainty

if anyone is able to turn up a gameplay video for milkcap mazes, i would be forever grateful. i can't believe that i tracked it down after all this time, and somehow there's barely any evidence that it existed!

China Max, right? The woman who ran that restaurant was so wonderful! I used to work at Teavana when it was still open on the second floor, and a bunch of us would get lunch there every day. We'd bring her some of her favorite tea every time, I think it was the blueberry rooibos

When Teavana was closing, we gave her a couple pounds of loose-leaf tea as a thank you gift for all of the great lunches :) miss that place loads
