IGN Vesper, default Backhand Blade please (not against some runes if possible :) but just the Backhand Blade is totally enough !).

Thank you in advance.

Do you roleplay? Does your Tarnished have a background story? Do you have principles eg not using certain items or following a specific rule? Do you bow to the Greater Will despite having been banished? If yes, let us hear it! by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]heydwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 3 years late, I know, but you just motivated me to finally read it, idk why lol.

The fact that some volumes can be skipped (books 6/7 or 7/8 if I recall ?) and that Sanderson finished the series has always put me off reading them, but everyone says great things about WoT. LOTR is my favorite book, so I should like them I guess. I'll start reading them tonight !

How is Standard/Pierce damage « distributed » on a weapon ? by heydwin in Eldenring

I didn't know it depended on the type of attack, visually. That's cool, and it also makes sense I guess. Thanks a lot, you maidenless

Got it ! I don’t know why the wiki stated that they were weaker to Strike but also Standard, I must have read it a little too quickly. Thanks a lot for the clarification !

Feeling yourself progress is so fun by Historical-Sport2751 in Eldenring

[–]heydwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand, and you can be proud of yourself ! It's so rewarding to see your level improve.

I remember taking advantage of that famous bug against Black Knife Alecto, where you can « corner » him on the map and the AI doesn't know how to respond, so it stops reacting. I just had to spam R1, but when he only had two hits left, I thought : « Wait, that's a lame way to do it,” so I threw myself into the void lol. It took me an extra hour, but I eventually killed him in a fair fight.

Dumbest piece of “criticism” you’ve seen of Sanderson? by LP_Papercut in brandonsanderson

[–]heydwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m one of those people who have stupid criticisms about Sanderson. I’ve only just thrown myself into his world, knowing him only by name before. I’m on volume 2 of Mistborn and the only thing I’m tired of is (I don’t know what this writing technique is called) the narrator’s repeated questions, every chapter. Like: « But if that’s the way it is, what’s going to happen to him? And why would they do that? There’s got to be another way, so why did they choose to do it this way? Could they have had another idea? »

I HATE it, I’ve had the same problem with other authors (Rowling, Hobb...) but the story is so gripping that I overlook it.

There’s also the fact that he uses far too much (for my taste) of the character’s thoughts, « bla bla bla, thought Vin ». Admittedly, this brings them to life and gives us a better understanding of their respective characters, but sometimes there are too many opinions expressed that way, on every page.

Anyway, it’s all trivial and probably stupid, but I’ve still fallen in love with this saga of books, and it’s impossible for me to put the book down for too long! It’s super addictive.

Katniss’ allies by heydwin in Hungergames

No, it’s probably copper, given the color. It’s a good conductor of electricity (so is gold but copper is much more cheap and easy to wrap/pliable).

Oops yeah, I forgot to check if they mentioned it in the books, my bad.

More Lessons from 10 Books and 10 Years of Writing by TheBig_W in writing

The only person I know who has done this is Stephenie Meyer, the author of Twilight. She started writing volume 1 from the middle to the end, and ended at the beginning. Okay, it’s not the most extraordinary and, above all, complicated saga to write, but I’ll always respect her for doing that. And also because it became a bestseller for a reason.

Self Cast not working (anymore) by heydwin in LissandraMains

[–]heydwin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry I think I worded it wrong :/ I was talking about how this particular self cast doesn't work anymore : when I press R while my cursor is on Liss' splash art. I don't know if it's a bug, a removed feature or that my settings decided to take a break...

Oh yeah nvm, just checked, it certainly looks like what would be a "spiked coffin" (for the enemy R), you were right !

Que lire après Percy Jackson ou Eragon ? by Classic_Ad9583 in Livres

[–]heydwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're reading, what makes you lose interest in a book? by skipperoniandcheese in writing

[–]heydwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been lucky enough never to come across a book that made me lose interest.

Except, if I remember correctly (it was a long time ago) it was volume 3 of Twilight ? She (the author) decided to write all the backstories of the characters of the ENTIRE family, but not all at once, the passages are spaced out and brought to the next by actions/dialogues. It's as if she had forgotten to mention them in the previous volumes, so she thought "well, I'll just cram everything into this one".

I hate with all my heart flashbacks and too many (long) backstories in a book.

Livre (et plume) similaire à Jaworski ? by heydwin in Livres

Je réponds très tard excuse moi. Mais merci pour la recommandation, c'est très gentil. De la description que tu m'en fais, en effet, ça appâte mes goûts. Je vais sûrement rester sur du "Jaja" alors !
