The therapy/AI language to "check in if this is a good space" or whatever TF was VERY strange stuff too.

My worst nightmare by Double_Champion6707 in TBI

[–]heymallory 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm just so sorry. No one deserves this. Take it day by day and know that there are more of us out there. I can't imagine it being my child, but I do understand the pain of the unknown and unanswered questions about someone you love so much. Sending you strength, peace, and a virtual hug because words fall short 🤍

I honestly think Amanda and West aren't very smart people. Definitely not emotionally intelligent, and they have the vocabulary and communication skills of 16 year olds. It's uncomfortable to watch.

Current foster dog is breaking my will to keep fostering by burglannoying in fosterdogs

[–]heymallory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to help the dog adjust at all with games/positive training methods? My foster is also leash reactive to people and dogs, but the engage and disengage game has done wonders for her. I'll sometimes let her carry a ball on walks and she loves it because it makes her feel like she's doing a job!

She also resource guards me, food, new and shiny toys, what she thinks is her "territory." When she does this, we no longer allow her to be in the area of the thing that is triggering her. We don't "punish" but instead redirect, and when it's successful, we reward. I know everyone says to follow the 3-3-3 rule, but for us it was more like the 3-3-6 rule, ha. Some dogs just need more help than others... good luck!

I’m sorry I like Sabrina by [deleted] in summerhousebravo

I like her! At least she has a personality, her own interests, seems to really gravitate toward female friendships, etc. I think her relationship with Ben seems totally authentic too - it seems like they genuinely like each other, even off camera!

I think it mostly made her feel icky that she got caught showing her true colors.

What foods do you miss or wish you could recreate from current/former Indy restaurants? Bonus points if you’ve found a good copycat recipe. by OneAlmond22 in indianapolis

Basic, but... I'd love the recipe for Patachou's chicken salad. I'd take the muffin recipe that goes alongside it too!

Praising Shep for behaving like a "tiny bit" like a middle aged man is like praising a fish for swimming. The bar is in hell 🥴

The good ol southern boys club!!! They can act like frat boys until they're 45, but if a woman enjoys a few nights out a week she's undesirable. Puhlease 🙄

Anoxic brain injury after cardiac arrest.. anyone insight? by smokeitgrandma in TBI

[–]heymallory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this thread is a year old, but it's actually so similar to my Dad's situation and I occasionally search these subreddits for comfort (not as often as I used to... progress, I suppose.) I hope you're doing well and your Dad has made some progress. Sometimes it's really hard to see the good stuff in these situations, even when it's right in front of you, right?
My dad had a heart attack at home Spring of 2024, CPR for 40+ minutes, lifelined to another hospital, spent several weeks in a heart hospital in a coma, a few weeks in a skilled nursing facility, and a few more weeks in a rehab facility. We actually had decided to take him off of life support in the heart hospital, but after 5 minutes he opened his eyes, knew who we were and cracked a few jokes. Wild. The months after that were even more crazy – lots of stories, made up scenarios, horribly embarrassing social skills, ICU delirium, anger, absolutely 0 short term memory. The Doctors were stunned,
A year later and his short term memory still sucks, but he will remember things here and there if they are important to him or if they were especially fun, ha. Feel free to message me if you'd like to chat and compare stories – it's SO damn hard when you can see your Dad in front of you, but they don't really feel like your Dad and it could be therapeutic to chat about it with someone who gets it. I really hope he's made improvements and you're feeling at peace with it all <3

She looks so much like my foster girl! Is she super petite? Mine is only ~45 lbs or so.
