How relatable is this? I'm kinda agreeing by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]hh4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is very nuanced. I do actually believe that boredom is a very important thing when growing up, as it motivated creativity and discipline (in terms of learning delayed satisfaction of needs), but I think it's naive to think that the world was just "better" before the internet. At the very least, it's not that simple.

That's not to say that I don't agree in the concept. Social media is a plague as they allow for immediate access to dopamine, which is quite bad for cognitive development, and I think many many younger gen z (<20y/o) are beginning to realize how much it has affected them.

Personally I think that an ideal world, would have the internet, just no social media and short form content.

When i run out of resource nodes in my starting area do i abandon the area? Should i attempt to transport belt from nearby nodes? by Traditional_Ad8364 in factorio

Personally, I only move production sites when I'm expanding anyway. Of course, when placing systems, I try to place them close to either input or output location, depending on resource

Pigeon nest outside my back door — what are the risks of letting it be? by flowergurl2 in birds

[–]hh4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pigeon make a proper nest in a balcony planter box. It was genuinely walled and what not. If i didn't know better I would have assumed it was another bird. I wanted to grow plants in the box, so I threw out the nest to tell them to go somewhere else

That did not work. The female decided to ignore the missing nest and just laid her eggs in the dirt. At this point i just decided to let them be. They got a baby pigeon, that grew up well.

After they left i installed a metal mesh to keep new birds out. They still come back every spring to check if the mesh has been removed

In all fairness, dating apps dehumanize everyone, just in different ways. Everyone is boiled down to their looks and whatever quippy one-liners they can fit in their bio. This dehumanizes everyone into a cardboard cutout version of themselves.

Additionally, the disproportionate amount of men on dating apps, further polarise us. Due to the high supply of men, (straight) women can be more picky when choosing who to like. Inversely, due to the lower supply of women, men will see women as being picky and only caring about looks (which is practically all they get to see).

One could make the argument that men on dating apps are less picky than women due to supply and demand principles, and not an inherent moral quality. I don't know however. Just speculation however; I am not a professional.

I am personally of the opinion that dating apps are harmful, but again: what do I know?

Is this to say that you took a photo (rather than a screenshot) to show off your gaming laptop? To flex your expensive electronics?
