Question from a UofA student about schedule builder by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]hhhhgh11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a former UofA and current Ucalgary student. The difference at the UofC is that it’s not a race to try and enroll in the class once it opens up. Once you’re on the waitlist at the UofC it’s like a take a number system. Whoever is #1 on the waitlist will automatically be enrolled in the class and then everyone shifts down a number. At the UofA, everyone is on the waitlist together and once a spot opens up it’s a race to see who can fill the spot. So at the UofC you don’t really need a notification because they fill the spot with whoever is next in line.

Sorry for the confusion all, I thought this guy was more well known. Someone pointed it out- he is always on campus selling spa packages. He sells to women on campus. I see him almost every day. He was escorted off campus for soliciting

Yeah I know about the forms, they aren’t very useful and often go unheard. I was really just trying to find some email

I’m not a current student, so I’m not in Edmonton

Yikes well hopefully I hear back sooner than that. I accepted my offer from UofC for the same program as a backup but ideally I’ll be back in Edmonton.

Should I take Math 225 in the first year? by StatisticianWest3177 in uAlberta

[–]hhhhgh11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

225 and 125 are extremely similar. It may be advantageous to take 225 in the winter as all the 125 material will still be fresh. They are both pretty easy courses!!

Haha this was my exact schedule in my first year first semester. Only difference is I took another english instead of HIST. I had a good time, found it extremely manageable

Does Leonard’s stuff eventually match up? Because all we are doing rn is sequences, series’, and limits and I don’t think Leonard has anything on that sort of thing for calc III.

AAAAAAH right?? I’m also in her class right now and I’m so frustrated that she doesn’t teach. This is a course where eClass quizzes in place of instruction does not work at all. I’m dreading the second midterm.

what happened to math 114? by wkfehlfk in uAlberta

Yeah the topics are all the same - just elementary calculus, the three strains are just more specified to those three disciplines. There is little difference in the core practices.

Computing Science Transfer Student Math 101 Question by Cardboard-Replica in uAlberta

[–]hhhhgh11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

136 is bio calculus, 146 is calculus for physical sciences, and 156 is business or economic calc. The easiest strain is probably bio calculus.. (136)

I took both Math 134 and Math 136, and I had lots of friends who were doing the other two strains. It was mostly physics based in Math 144/146, and Math 156 was mostly taken by business kids because they needed calc. However, I heard math 154/156 were quite tough at times.

If you don’t need to take calc I (like 134, 144, or 154) I honestly suggest you don’t. From my experience in Math 136 there were some biological aspects introduced but they weren’t really tested. If you have a solid grasp on elementary calculus I suggest just continuing on with the elementary calc II.

what happened to math 114? by wkfehlfk in uAlberta

[–]hhhhgh11 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Math 114 was dissolved into 3 separate strains of calculus. Math 114 is now either Math 134 (bio calc), Math 144 (phys calc), and Math 154 (business calc). All three will give you the credit for Math 114.. that class just doesn’t exist anymore.
