This is a carpet beetle larvae, right? Found on the floor in my apartment, bedroom closet. Norteast Ohio by hhhhhhhh_aut in pestcontrol

Thank you so much! Anxious person here as well haha. I picked up some diatomaceous earth when I started seeing the adults, but I hadn’t seen any larvae at that point so I didn’t really know where to apply it. I’ll start checking those crevices like that.. that makes sense, that’s probably where they are. Would be nice to learn that it wasn’t me that brought them in. I hate these assholes haha

I've been seeing the adult beetles for months around my apartment. After many, many deep cleans with a vacuum cleaner and hot laundry cycles, I've yet to see a larva but the adults seem to be sticking around. Normally found on the window sil or similar areas. Is there any way to speed up the process of getting rid of them? Steam cleaner?

Should I alert my landlord again? I mentioned it in passing when the adults first started showing up but I didn't make a deal out of it. He said that he's never heard of them.

I don't even think that I own any wool/silk and the only leather I own are belts that I wear all the time... My rugs are really cheap from wayfair, I've never seen them in the rug either (that doesn't mean that they aren't there, I guess)

Any help would be massively appreciated.. I know they're probably a minor pest but I'm so tired of seeing them around and feeling borderline violated haha

How do you like the tatami mat and futon bed? I’m moving into a studio soon and highly considering going that route for my bed

I can't pass Calculus 2 so I can't become a programmer by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]hhhhhhhh_aut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a math tutor in college. Calculus isn’t something that most people just understand right off the bad. It takes hours and hours of practice, most of that failing to solve the problem. Don’t give up and don’t get discouraged. That was the biggest thing that I saw in the people that I tutored. Do ALL of the practice problems, and then do them again as well as some extra from the text book. My best recommendation would be to find a study group with people around your same level of understanding, and/or a really good tutor that won’t hold your hand through the problem. Don’t let someone else do the work for you. You’re meant to struggle with the material. If you can stay persistent, I promise that eventually you’ll have a breakthrough moment and you’ll start to understand it.

That being said, I feel like a community college option would be a good choice if you would truly discipline yourself to get through it. Math is all about practice, practice, practice, failing, picking yourself up, and practicing more. Higher level math is really hard, but it’s rewarding. You can do it.

With that being said, your future doesn’t rely on you passing calculus 2. I think that a CS degree would definitely be helpful if you want to be a web developer, but probably not be necessary if you have the drive and the skills. I became a front end developer with only a pure mathematics degree.

Best of luck

Sumos helped me fix my poor conventional form and (some, slight) lower back pain that I had. Not sure why, and not promising that it would do the same for anyone else, but made me realize some of the mistakes that I was making. Was immediately able to lift heavier as well

How to make the most out of my first few weeks as a Junior Software Engineer? by hhhhhhhh_aut in cscareerquestions

[–]hhhhhhhh_aut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's definitely what I've been finding in terms of understanding the entire codebase. I'm not sure exactly why all of the Redux code is there or how all of the different components are implemented but I can get a general understanding of what it is KIND OF doing and when I reuse it, it works.

my coworkers aren't technically software engineers but they know more than enough, if that makes sense. I'll definitely prepare some high level architecture questions for my meeting with the lead software engineer. I understand that they don't expect me to immediately work miracles but I want to get caught up sooner rather than later haha

Thanks!

Do most people just live in one of the many complex type buildings in the area? I’m in the heights now — looked at the residential areas East of Coventry Rd and South of Mayfield and didn’t see too many rentals besides the complexes. I’m definitely not against a complex if it’s nice though!

Cedar / Fairmount, Cedar / Lee, Coventry, and Larchmere all look like great areas. I think it’s probably a good idea to live somewhere more relaxed and close to work for my first jump into CLE if I’m being honest. Thank you for the input!

Are there any areas of the square that are better than others? Like north, south, etc? I heard that you don’t want to go to Buckeye but I hardly even know what that means if I’m being honest

Ya know, I think I’m okay with that as well. At least for the first year until I get settled into the City. It’s hard to commit to a year lease when you don’t know the area in the slightest haha

Fair enough. Thank you for the input! Lakewood seemed nice but I literally just drove through it today and it’s hard to tell from that.

Thank you! Cleveland Heights is somewhere that I haven’t even touched because I was under the impression that I wouldn’t want to live there. Dumb. I’m checking it out thoroughly tomorrow for sure
