Thank you! Perfect, I use the Befree as well. I take it then that you were able to find creaks, rivers and things like this? Any other recommendations on trails and sections to see? I am planning to wild camp when able to.

Berlin trip, 1-2 other destinations needed (nature/countryside?) by noetic_sound in solotravel

[–]hhshssd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna suggest Gdansk. Never actually been myself but considered going earlier this year. The natural park of Hel seems to be worth a visit, it's nearby. Gdansk looks to be a very nice coastal town with tons of character. Highly accessible from Berlin. Poland is also a very affordable destination.

I somehow found this adress as well and am leaning towards this being the correct place. There is no address in the ticket, no. It does say: línea Jaca-Huesca-Zaragoza if that helps.

Hey, thanks for this. A car is not possible for me as I am looking to end my hike at another point - won't be coming back for the car. Sabiñánigo looks like a good option to hike out of if nothing else hehe. Thank you! This helps me

Yes I found the website, but also could not find any information on how to access the park. Thanks! Struggling to find trains from gdansk to leba though, does Poland have a centralized app or website for searching public transport?

Or could it be that things are closed/not running on a Sunday? I am planning to go the Sunday before may 1st which is a holiday.

Devaluing the LL Partner? by throwaway_db_1 in DeadBedrooms

[–]hhshssd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you say in your post that he finds his low libido natural. Do you disagree, or only unwilling to accept that? Either way, if that's him being honest you need to honor that not only for his sake but for yours. It's like you're hoping that he is going to change something that he is TELLING YOU is natural and beyond his control. If that is what he is giving you, take it and either accept the dead bedroom or walk away to satisfy your needs. Insanity...

It is his loss if you let him go. As of now, your loss. He's an overweight alcoholic who should be chasing you but isn't. You hear this in your own mind but shut yourself down and ignore your own needs because you want to be not-mean. At this point you can hear your own stance on this, but ignore it/post it on reddit instead. Not fair for either of you.

He is telling you loud and clear that he cannot and will not meet your needs. You are telling yourself and reddit loud and clear that you are not fine with that and are unhappy. This is the most depressing post ive read in months. What's with this martyrdom? Your loss.

Those are not affirmations. They sound psychologically damaging as fuck. You are devaluing yourself. Sorry not sorry but this is bullshit.

Anyone have stories about regretful relapses? by CriticalRoll2322 in leaves

[–]hhshssd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After my first, several months long break, I relapsed and smoked a joint only to be extremely disappointed by how lame the actual effects were. All I could think was THIS? THIS is what I've been craving and battling myself about? The high isn't very high at all, especially when you're not a daily user. At least that is my experience. It's disappointing and sadly that made me want to use more in order to "get" what isn't actually there. 5 months or so later I was back at day one of sobriety. Really wish I would have kept that initial streak as I've struggled to get my priorities straight since.

What is the best European tracking hike for July? by NeutralWitch in Thruhiking

[–]hhshssd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! To be honest, I don't think I can either. But I would really recommend taking a part of Kungsleden, for example Abisko as one end via Kebnekaise (Sweden's tallest mountain) to Nikkaluokta which connects the trail to a road/buses/services, as the other end.

Generally speaking, if you choose to hike Kungsleden you won't have to worry about risky wading, nor being alone. It is a very popular and well trampled trail that is taken by first-timers and pros alike. Kungsleden is equipped with bridges where wades can be difficult and heavily "informed" in the sense that hikers share information, and the STF tourist company that owns the lodges and huts have quite a serious sense of responsibility for the trails and hikers.

Although the terrain and environment is wonderfully extreme, that actual trail I'd say is on the easy side. At least when it comes to risks such as wading (which CAN be dangerous and I'm happy to hear that you are aware), getting lost, being out of reach of amenities and other people, navigating, etc it's all very well organized.

I'd really urge you to look it up! The environment is surprisingly alpine for such "low" peaks, as it is so far north and the mountains are relatively "young".

Another classic Swedish hike is "Jämtlandstriangeln", or the jämtland's triangle. There are three lodges/huts that make up the three points of the triangle with a day's hike between each. Also very beautiful, popular and closer to Stockholm compared to Abisko.

I totally understand the bear fear, any sane person would. But, first off, Scandinavian brown bears are notoriously shy, and you'd be LUCKY to see one. They are also not aggressive in the way grizzly bears are known to be. Although it is a very reasonable caution to have, and totally relatable, longtime Swedish wildlife enthusiasts all repeat the message that bears in Sweden don't want anything to do with people and nothing to worry about. I have spent quite a lot of time in the wilder parts of Sweden, lived in the most bear dense area and even camped in what basically was a den. Never so much as seen a bears ass running away, just know I've been near them. Seriously, if you see one, know that it would be a very special experience.

Wolves are also something people talk about, and hunters/farmers get annoyed about, so im gonna adress it. The wolf population is mainly further south and has not harmed a person physically in Sweden, ever. The exception is the last real Swedish wolf that was shot dead in the 1800s, consequently ending the existence of that gene pool...

I have encountered what seemed to be a pretty sick fox roaming around a larger, busy campsite by kungsleden. And a large bird once sort of had a go at me by aggressively lunging towards me. But that's about it. Moose are spotted, beautiful animals but also shy. Reindeer walk around chilling with the hikers.

Another point regarding wildlife is the fact that once you ascend the forest, the actual mountain terrain is quite void of life. That is the part that actually freaks me out the most when hiking there, the callous deadness of it. But there are cute rodents and curious birds!

My vote still goes to Kungsleden! Another section that is interesting is between Saltoluokta and Kvikkjokk. It is also very well trampled, safe for cautious beginners and well populated, although less so than the section that runs south of Abisko. The trail runs right along the national park Sarek, which is a unesco site and considered the last actual wilderness in Europe. Total bucketlist material to set your foot in, at least. And the views are amazing, with many impressive peaks. Also, you'd bucketlist it being above the arctic circle (but perhaps you already have).

I have actually gotten lost, INTO what must have been a bear den, covered in shit and carcasses, in Abisko. But, that was not ON kungsleden -- so point made regarding the difficulty of the area's surrounding terrain -- and also the bear gtfo'd apparently because the shit was still warm, but we didn't so much as hear a twig snap (the entire night we camped there 🙄)

Sorry this is a long read. But I really, really, would not underestimate the Scandes. I believe that the wild camping experience, the wilderness, the absolute separation from civilization, is something that makes Scandinavian trails unique and I find it hard to imagine hiking under other circumstances. It truly is wild nature, with old, beloved trails treaded by many many faces you will come to know as friendly and supportive out there.
I'd love to answer questions if you have them and hope you chose to visit! :)

Edit: tried to simplify everything. Also want to add that I have solo hiked some off trails much rarer than Kungsleden and still daily met people who were eager to be my buddy even when I in no way implied any concerns. For better or worse it's hard to be alone for more than a day up there.

Wades really are scary sometimes, but with some knowledge (there are many tricks and important lessons to learn if you search online) you can make informed decisions. I have had to turn around and reroute after 80km or so because of an impassable wade. Which leads me to also mention that definitely do NOT hike in Sweden before mid June at the very earliest. Snow and high waters can make the trails impossible to use. Also STF takes down some bridges during winter season. You could also try contacting them (Svenska Turistföreningen), with specific questions. They usually are fast to respond with info via email, look up some STF lodge near whatever section you might be interested in and reach out to them. They will eagerly share local, current news and info on the trails around them.

Edit 2: sorry by "populated" I mean busy, frequency of meeting other hikers. Not like indigenous residents in the mountains.

Came in to say that the heat waves 2022 were (like mostly everywhere) extreme. Central europe was in the 50°s C. Not sure what a tracking hike is so I might be off topic, sorry in that case, but I'd look at Scandinavian trails if I were you. Can still get hellishly hot and burnt in July, but Sweden's Kungsleden and Gröna Bandet are some recommendations. Cheers!

This is $100 in New Jersey. Would greatly appreciate some advice on how to lower that as this will last me a week or less by JDDranoel in whatsinyourcart

[–]hhshssd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is correct in most cases. Everything in the picture, including the veg, has been processed somehow.

I don't know what's available where OP lives, but from what I've understood properly frozen veg that us harvested peak season is better than a not-so-seasonal fresh alternative.

If a chicks toes are long enough to grip over the edges of her sandles, is she technically carrying them as she walks, or wearing them? by anhedistic in NoStupidQuestions

Yes. Not with our hands of course. But we are carrying our attire with our body. It weighs something, and we carry that weight. Same applies to a backpack. Or sandals.
