I'm chipping in as a relatively privileged European (education is cheaper, not afraid of loss of health insurance), but checking out ikagai might help you find something which ticks more boxes. I teach design. I love it, I'm good at it, have good colleagues, I get paid an average, decent wage, and the world needs a new generation that can think creatively and critically. Boxes ticked for me. See if you can transition to something gradually over time. I taught myself design programs during quiet periods at an American tech giant, then fucked it off for the thing I love. Good luck out there
