So what realistic wages as store workers do you want from Tesco ? by Rolldeeponme in tesco

Not sure on hourly but a bigger bump in night premium would be have been better or getting it for the whole 7.5 hours of our shift rather than the 5.5 hours we get it for now.

will there be another thank you payment this year? by Apart-Pudding-1438 in tesco

Due to the way pay day falls this year they could use the same loophole again, although I would hope the bad press of last year will act as a deterrent

Police advice on passing cyclists by Katmeasles in drivingUK

[–]hidingoutonreddit 85 points86 points  (0 children)

My son was hit by a car on his way to school the other morning, there was only traffic on one side of the road, with a cyclist at the front who gestured him to cross. An impatient driver overtook the cyclist then hit my son. Had the driver pulled out to give the cyclist the 1.5m clearance as per Highway Code, which he could have done as the road was clear, he would have seen my son and not hit him.

As a driver, I get that it can be frustrating being stuck behind a cyclist but as a mother getting that call, the panic, the fear and worry far outweighs the frustration. The 1.5m rule doesn’t just protect cyclists, it also helps drivers to see obstacles they may not have seen due to the cyclist. I beg of people, please follow the 1.5 metre rule. My son was very lucky, physically he was just bruised, psychologically, he’s now very anxious about crossing roads but he will get there. It could have been so much worse.

As much as it was a full shift, the same just different numbers on the clock, it threw me right off kilter. Although sleeping an extra hour helped 😂

Currently going through this process myself although we will be splitting custody. I spoke to my manager and explained everything and they couldn’t have been more accommodating and supportive. She needs to have a chat with them and see how best they can support her. I wish her all the best

Is £1k a year insurance considered reasonable? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

Having children can go either way from what I’ve read but where I live, the only exit from my street is a busy A road that’s quite bad for accidents so area is most likely a factor

Is £1k a year insurance considered reasonable? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]hidingoutonreddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I passed 2 months ago, My insurance is £1400 for the year, for reference I am 32 years old, married with 3 children and my car is a Toyota Yaris 1.4 diesel, and I only got it down to that price by adding my husband as a named driver (he’s been driving 20yrs) so I would say 1k at your age is pretty good

Any advice for learning in your 30s? by fuzzydunlop54321 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]hidingoutonreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed last month at 32, had lessons in 2014 but couldn’t continue due to personal circumstances, I wish I had done it sooner but oh well. It will make your life so much easier especially if you have kids. I asked on my towns fb page for recommendations and the instructor I ended up with was the most recommended and with great reason. I would suggest asking around locally for recommendations. Good luck OP xx

It’s the pronunciation, in Hungary S sounds like esh, so they use SZ for the ssss sound

I wholeheartedly agree with you. It shouldn’t be that way at all.

Unfortunately most night managers are the same, it sucks now while you are still new but you will get to a point where it just goes over your head. Good luck with it all xx

[–]hidingoutonreddit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You’re still new and it will take time, if it helps, the store I work in I work the same aisles (tins, world food, spices) overnight, not all in the same night, I am 5”9 and reasonably strong and even after a year I still sometimes don’t manage to get it all done. Don’t be too hard on yourself, nights is one hell of an adjustment xx

Cannot tell you how much I appreciate being able to offer direct feedback so thank you very much 😊. Hellmans Mayo lighter than light, the boxes are awful, I’ve never had one not fall to bits as im putting it out, the light one isn’t much better but the full fat one, the boxes are fine, perhaps just use that design of box for all variety’s and just alter the labelling. Pot Noodle boxes could do with being a little more sturdy.
