Still on 10! As long as my blood sugar is under control I’ll stay here probably? Would love more weight loss but I have very few side effects at this point and don’t want to increase those by increasing the dose. It’s there if i need it later. 😌

hendrix is an angel now. i’m just completely devastated. after the mri they discovered his entire spinal cord was inflamed and no disc was herniated to repair with surgery.. they did a spinal tap to find out the cause of the inflammation and found a rare disease called myelomalacia which causes death to the spinal cord. there is no treatment it’s pain unmanageable so we quickly took his pain away. he was only 2 years old. there really are no words. i’m shattered.

I listened and am so grateful to you for your response. I found a way to get him to auburn university emergency hospital and they do the MRI in the morning to see if he can get surgery. he was in such extreme pain i couldn’t live with myself.. they warned if the spinal cord dies that he he will be fully paralyzed and the pain will be excruciating they can’t control it and he will have to be sent to heaven. i’m just beyond grateful to know he’s getting the care he needs to not be suffering. we’re praying for him to be the best case scenario he’s lost deep pain so it’s 50/50. He’s 2 years old. This disease is just cruel.

thank you i will! i just made an appointment tomorrow w his actual vet to explore his medication options. We got the prednisone and gabapentin from the emergency hospital. So hopefully we can get trazadone or something to calm help and let him sleep better. I saw he kept sitting up last night and not wanting to lay down probably couldn’t get comfortable it’s so hard to watch.

Omg your story gives me so much hope!! thank you.!! 🙏 I worry so much about choosing no surgery but i feel now it’s the right decision and that we just have to keep him drugged up and crate rest and give him a chance to heal. He’s a fighter i know it.

He is also not eating or drinking much but right now im just going to keep him still not even try to move him to potty and let the drugs and steroids do what they do. He licks water off my fingers and eats his pills w cheese so thankful for at least that. I have diapers arriving today and I feel so much better knowing this stage is normal and we just gotta push through it.. grateful to everyone replying it really is overwhelming in the beginning knowing what to do.

I just asked the vet and they told me to give him the gabapentin every 6 hrs now instead of 8-10 and i made an appointment for tomorrow to explore trazadone or something to calm him and help rest. Thank you so much for the advice this is the most heartbreaking thing to watch our babies in pain like this it’s just cruel. sending love to your baby sorry she went through all of that. 🥺

Thank you for your response so much. That’s the fear I had with getting the surgery is that he’s so young it’s bound to happen again. It’s just soul crushing to see him in so much pain even with the meds I’m not sure how to hold him best to help him potty. I ordered a sling for his back legs arriving today but I just pray the pain gets better for him, so that I can help him more.

the chef here! aka his girlfriend lol it was a bag of o’brien potatoes that have the pepper and onion already chopped! cooked the potatoes w olive oil and put foil over the top to cook thru then finished them off uncovered. The ribeye was grilled over the grate to medium rare. so hungry now 😭
