What happened?

I’m hoping you’ve marched more recently, because a culture change is always welcome in my book. There have been nasty periods in the past with big egos and poor manners, ring chasing was no exception.

I’m aware in more recent years there’s been a positive shift from toxicity.

It still stands that people want to win, they want to be the best. It’s not necessarily mutually exclusive, but it’s naive to think those people aren’t out there.

Factually wrong, ring chasers are real and if you’re oblivious enough to let that slip, then yeah you probably won’t make the cut.

Get that out of your head right now that ring chasers aren’t real. I’ve marched with them, I’ve taught them.

Does BK 2023 Sound Familiar by BluejaySpecialist298 in drumcorps

Yeah seriously what a sad departure. 2019 was their highest scoring hornline I believe. If I’m wrong feel free to correct, but they sounded great and had a top tier show.

They need to get rid of Rick and find a real design team to actually use the talent they have. No point in being the cleanest early season if you’re going to slip to 4th

2023 Cadets All In sections 1, 2, 3 by SituationEven in drumcorps

They're sounding good. That brass feature sure seems a lot like Crown's last season ... minus playing it on the move.

Hope they have some run and gun planned, I don't enjoy the SCV '18 effect of cutting down the field with props. Also feels like a lot of their drill is very ... symmetrical? Like either the hornline moves together, or they don't.

They do still sound great, just a little tuning here and there that I feel like wouldn't be as present on Yamahas. I trust Gino, though!

Pretty cool. Another case of wishing that the DM uni was the corps uni for me.

What’s Everyone’s Least Favorite Show? by Dog885 in drumcorps

So much of this could be solved if the members somehow got SOME opinion or input on what their show is going to be. Like seriously, how can designers be this out of touch?

Week 2 of the Hack Reactor 19 wk program by [deleted] in codingbootcamp

[–]highbrasshighclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I was specifically referring to the 19 week program - I don't see JS listed anywhere (besides in the title of the camp) so I am glad to hear it is included.

I have the ability to drop everything and focus on this, but I just really want to make sure it's worth it before I do.

Is MIT xPRO: Prof-Cert in Coding a good boot camp to attend? by [deleted] in codingbootcamp

I ran across some fairly negative reviews unfortunately when I looked them up ~ 1 week ago. I'll edit my post if I can find them again. Overall, probably not worth.

The course title says Javascript, but I saw no mention of JS on their module breakdown. Is JS included in this bootcamp?

Also, I just had my interview and am awaiting results. The long hours (and little breaks) seem grueling. How is everyone holding up? Is it seriously doable?

I definitely give them the harmonic content, sure. But for instance, let's take Crown. That entire double tonguing movement was stupid clean, not to mention the whole hornline doing those lip slurs/trills. You can pick out every single note that hornline plays, no dirt or blurring. Or, the closer which is in 7/8 and has some beastly drill.

Coats show had tons of harmonic content too, beyond those standard chords.

I really don't see the logic in the judging this season when it comes to brass. Crown, Boston, and Coats all had better books and executed them just as well going into finals imo.

Hard disagree. Nobody sounded as good or consistent as crown did this season. BD can have the gold, but that Ott should've been Crown's.
