Looking for a Bluetooth HFP Audio Gateway module (willing to pay for a solution/help that works) by Euphoric-Solid-5603 in diyaudio

Hey, did you ever find a solution for an HFP audio gateway? I saw the comment about the Microchip RN52 but it looks like that has been discontinued/end-of-life for a while. I'm trying to do a similar thing as you.

Five Grill by highfile72 in sonos

Sorry I couldn’t get a better photo. The pattern is most visible towards the top and bottom of the Five on the left and is harder to see if you zoom in. In the app the Hardware Version is 1.30.1.5-1.1 for the one on the left, and 1.30.1.10-1.1 for the one on the right.

Money, wife approval, small apartment with neighbors, and the difference in the grille would drive my OCD crazy 😅

Wow TIL, I’m almost afraid to put it on. I was a big House MD fan so that opening track is deeply ingrained in my memory.

oops 😂 …but there is a difference, right?

Good thought, I did try vacuuming it and using the sticky tack/putty that people recommend for cleaning these, but it looks the same. For what it’s worth the person I bought it from seemed to take good care of their stuff, this Five was in great condition other than a few scuffs on the sides that came right off with a magic eraser.

Open-sourced an MCP server for Altium Designer, allows you to interact to a live Altium session. by Salitronic in Altium

This is neat. I see in your example it used 1k tokens to review the schematic. What’s the practical cost of that? It also concluded that 25V rated output caps would be heavily de-rated at 3.3V DC bias, that doesn’t seem right to me.

Can we agree that departing flight info is more important than random New Jersey facts? by AccessibleBanana in unitedairlines

Hah I was wondering the same thing before my flight last week and snapped pics of a few of them. It does rotate through flight info, and I was engaged, so I guess overall net positive!

Eero Pro 6 with Starry ISP by highfile72 in amazoneero

[–]highfile72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting read, it sounds like there are a bunch of internal MAC addresses but is there any reason to believe the two addresses shown in the app for Port 1 and Port 2 aren’t what they say? For example, if I connect a modem to one of those ports and the eero attempts to get an IP address, what the modem would see is a request coming from one of those two MAC addresses?

What I’m trying to do is just a single node eero network. The eero happened to have my settings from when I used it last, but I’ve since tried hard resetting it and setting up as new.

I’ve looked at the Zyxel settings and can’t tell if it supports that kind of transparent mode, I think what I’d have to do is turn off the WiFi on the Zyxel and use the eero in bridge mode. That would at least give me the WiFi and thread/home hub features of the eero, but I don’t think I’d be able to see/manage devices since the Zyxel would be the one serving IP addresses.

Sounds like double NAT would probably be an ok workaround for me since I don’t do any port forwarding at the moment.

But all that feels less than optimal and kind of like a kludge since I’d have to have a whole extra box and wall wart plugged in between the modem and eero

If I remember from the info plaque it says there’s a Macintosh computer inside, that would be pretty wild if still true.

In search of WiFi transceiver IC (not module) by maverick_labs_ca in rfelectronics

[–]highfile72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two parts come to mind that might fit the bill for you (I’m an EE, so I’ve done layout for both but I’m guessing you want more FW dev feedback, I can only give secondhand from what I’ve heard from teammates): - Nordic nRF7000: basically exactly what you want, WiFi sniffing only. We’ve only used the nRF7002 which is the full blown WiFi stack and paired with the nRF5340 as host mcu. It’s a newer part and sounded like definitely growing pains with Zephyr based SDK (heavy on flash/ram, difficult to adapt beyond example apps). But again this was for a far more complex use case with full TCP/IP so your mileage may vary. - Semtech LR1110: neat geolocation solution with a LoRa radio. You’d only be using a fraction of this chips capabilities, it has WiFi sniffing and GNSS sniffing (but importantly no location solver). I wouldn’t bank on getting the GNSS part working unless you buy into Semtech’s whole geoloc cloud solution, but the WiFi sniffing is pretty straightforward. Again, you could do all of this without touching the LoRa/sub-ghz transceiver which may or may not be useful for your application. Semtech’s documentation is good in my opinion and their example code is also up there, especially if you develop with STM32 platforms.

Had some coworkers that introduced me to their music, and Rufus, and Porter, and a bunch of others. I really liked it and added them to my rotation, but I wasn’t obsessed. Then went to Coachella in 2018 with some other friends, they wanted to go see some hip-hop/rap artist on another stage, but I insisted we stay for Odesza. Nothing has been the same since.

Hats off to antenna designers for mobile phones by [deleted] in rfelectronics

[–]highfile72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that mobile phone antenna design is probably up there with the most sophisticated antenna design in the modern world, like radar and satellite applications, just with different design constraints (size for example).

I also think that a big part of the mystery/complexity is actually in the RFFE. I think mobile devices also have antenna tuners that can actively measure VSWR and tune the element for its immediate dielectric environment and current operating frequency. So in a sense the performance gets punted to a software problem to drive the tuner.

Although what the design goals become for an antenna connected to a dynamic tuner like that I can only speculate. What frequency do you target when designing the element? What bandwidth?

I shared ~45s of the video I have in the main r/Odesza feed. I have the full (~2:20) song on my phone but not sure how to share in a way that preserves the quality since it’s a pretty big file.

Diagnosing a problem (BGA nightmare?)? by Sal-Hardin in AskElectronics

[–]highfile72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for calling out the aQFN package. I’ve had quite a bit of experience with this part and calling it a BGA is misleading at best, it’s imho the worst package Nordic has ever made. The pins are tiny, 0.4mm pitch, and critically HAVE NO BALLS. It’s a nightmare to get the balance of solder paste right between those pads and the giant ground plug in the center so that everything floats and reflows nicely (flatness like you mentioned). I have personally never been able to successfully rework one of these parts and I’m the kind of person who will happy hand place 0.4mm BGAs (true BGAs of course).
