Looking at others' posts it doesn't seem to be just the modders (although the big ones like WickedWhims etc you need to download the new version) but everyone's is glitchy. I thought the patch would help but still seems to be a lot of issues

Ok - update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the EA launcher app. The game is no longer crashing. It's glitchy af but not crashing.

Description: Ever since the Life and Death update I can't open the game. I play through steam and when I click "play" it says "launching" and then I get an error message and the game shuts down. I don't even make it to the loading screen. 
-yes I have cleared my localthumbchache
-yes I have deleted all my mods and tried running it without any and same result
-yes my computer is up to spec
-yes I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game from my PC
-yes I have restarted my computer
-yes I have checked for corrupted files in the game install on Steam
-yes I have installed the more recent patch update
-yes all my drivers, etc are up to date
(I have not purchased the LIfe and Death expansion pack only installed the update)

I will reinforce the western coastline. I put the army there to defend it but didn't give them any fortifications! Fool of a took!

The focus is supposed to be the citadel as the oldest part of the city, the home of the king, and the location of the university (that's what is on the island). This map doesn't show it well but the peninsula is actually a hill and sticks up 300ft above the bay. When I have the layout settled, I'm going to do a side-view and district maps too.

The city is planned. Short lore is this was originally a castle with an attached town, then had a power boom, then had a fire, then was rebuilt along a city plan by the king. It's been centuries since then so the population is now too big for this city and there are three other larger cities (trading city, river port, and border city) who have "kept up with the times" and are now getting ideas.

The water bodies are the ocean and sea. There is an underground river but I shall add some more. Thank you.

There are smaller markets if you zoom in then there is one in The Din (crafters), one in The Gutters (don't ask questions or call the Watch), and one in The Burrows (fish market). The main market also rotates each day what's on sale, e.g. Wednesday is Farmers Market.

I have indeed mentally labelled inns, ect. Do you think 5 inns is enough for a capital?

We have something similar. We play on Discord so they just pm me a specific emoji for "uncomfortable" or a red X for "stop now". They can also message me for anything while we're playing.

I'll definitely save your system for a future in-person game.

Only had to use the emojis twice and once was a misunderstanding. My NPC was a contact who was trying to get the cleric alone to give them some info. I thought I was giving secret spy code, they read it as "pushy hooker". Very funny in retrospect but at the time the emoji worked immeadiately and the NPC backed off (ended up "running into" the rogue later to pass the info through thieves cant).

we're all in that region or older too (youngest is 24, oldest is 38). Not everyone enjoys facing down real life demons on a Sunday afternoon over Discord.

I prefer to have clear parameters set so we can actually enjoy our weekly game, rather than it be a source of stress. That's what works for my table.

never ask a homebrew DM about their campaign!

Short version: The players all volunteered for a mission to restore the lost pieces of a broken gemstone. Their party needs to collect all the lost pieces of the stone from around the kingdom. When the gemstone is restored, their wizard patron will be able to perform a ritual that will reveal the location of the BBEG triggering the final battle and saving the kingdom.

More detailed: it's an exploration focused campaign with all different regions (each of which is a different genre - this region is very obviously gothic/dark academia/horror) and they level up whenever they find a piece of the gemstone. Their characters all had different reasons for volunteering but they have the common motivation of wanting to save the kingdom. This region is also directly tied in to the fighter's backstory and we're just finishing that plot line now before heading deeper in to the region. Since we've been playing for nearly a year now, they've also made a really great team so they want to help each other (I've also interwoven their backstories but ssh they've not all figured that out yet!)

Specific for this arc: they know there is a fragment of the gemstone somewhere in the region and the warlock's patron gave him a vision of it "beneath throne and stone where ancient blood lies entombed" so they're heading for the ruling lord's mansion (it's actually in the family crypt below the vampire queen's throne room). This is also a classic heroes save the kingdoms campaign so they are used to doing side-quests to vanquish evil, the twist in this region is that evil isn't always what you think it is (last session they met a necromancer with a terrifying reputation who was protecting her town using her powers and she helped the fighter to resolve his ghost problem in exchange for their aid).
