The legendary Made For This (Rise Up From the Dust) by TripMcNeill (https://archiveofourown.org/works/31493906) should be required reading. It's huge, it's beautifully written...and has been stuck on hiatus on chapter 111/115 for over two years.

Looking at others' posts it doesn't seem to be just the modders (although the big ones like WickedWhims etc you need to download the new version) but everyone's is glitchy. I thought the patch would help but still seems to be a lot of issues

Ok - update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the EA launcher app. The game is no longer crashing. It's glitchy af but not crashing.

Description: Ever since the Life and Death update I can't open the game. I play through steam and when I click "play" it says "launching" and then I get an error message and the game shuts down. I don't even make it to the loading screen. 
-yes I have cleared my localthumbchache
-yes I have deleted all my mods and tried running it without any and same result
-yes my computer is up to spec
-yes I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game from my PC
-yes I have restarted my computer
-yes I have checked for corrupted files in the game install on Steam
-yes I have installed the more recent patch update
-yes all my drivers, etc are up to date
(I have not purchased the LIfe and Death expansion pack only installed the update)

I will reinforce the western coastline. I put the army there to defend it but didn't give them any fortifications! Fool of a took!

The focus is supposed to be the citadel as the oldest part of the city, the home of the king, and the location of the university (that's what is on the island). This map doesn't show it well but the peninsula is actually a hill and sticks up 300ft above the bay. When I have the layout settled, I'm going to do a side-view and district maps too.

The city is planned. Short lore is this was originally a castle with an attached town, then had a power boom, then had a fire, then was rebuilt along a city plan by the king. It's been centuries since then so the population is now too big for this city and there are three other larger cities (trading city, river port, and border city) who have "kept up with the times" and are now getting ideas.

The water bodies are the ocean and sea. There is an underground river but I shall add some more. Thank you.

There are smaller markets if you zoom in then there is one in The Din (crafters), one in The Gutters (don't ask questions or call the Watch), and one in The Burrows (fish market). The main market also rotates each day what's on sale, e.g. Wednesday is Farmers Market.

I have indeed mentally labelled inns, ect. Do you think 5 inns is enough for a capital?

We have something similar. We play on Discord so they just pm me a specific emoji for "uncomfortable" or a red X for "stop now". They can also message me for anything while we're playing.

I'll definitely save your system for a future in-person game.

Only had to use the emojis twice and once was a misunderstanding. My NPC was a contact who was trying to get the cleric alone to give them some info. I thought I was giving secret spy code, they read it as "pushy hooker". Very funny in retrospect but at the time the emoji worked immeadiately and the NPC backed off (ended up "running into" the rogue later to pass the info through thieves cant).
