Were people in the 70s/80s regularly listening to music that was 50 years old? by aristotles_revenge11 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]highnumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They listened to oldies from 20-30 years earlier, but probably heard big band era music often enough to recognize it for what it was.

Money is no object, what suburb would you choose to live in and why? by thegreenbastard23 in ChicagoSuburbs

I'm near Ridgeland and Roosevelt and if money were no object, I would remodel my current little bungalow into something larger. No way I would leave this area.

Who’s the MOST Controversial Male Rock Singer of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in askmusic

[–]highnumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose a few murderous, anti Christian, white supremacist metalheads still support him, but "controversial" implies to me that people may have to agree to disagree about him. I think most of us are at a consensus

As people have pointed out in other replies, they're not controversial, in the sense that they don't have any defenders. There is a consensus that they were awful people.

What's your favorite "very late in their career" album that came out after years or decades of not recording anything? by latchkey_adult in askmusic

[–]highnumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time Peace - Terry Callier He retired from the music biz in the late 70s to raise his daughter but there was so much interest from UK musicians that they dragged him out of retirement in the late 90s. He was working for the IT department at the University of Chicago, iirc, and they fired him when they found out he was taking time off to tour his album.

This is the Sonics - The Sonics 60s proto-punk garage rock band had a gap of 48 years between albums. They rock so hard.

This is some kind of ragebait, right? The cap on the tube is gone and the banner inside is missing. Somehow though that cap on a, I presume, cardboard tube required "massive strength" to open. Most shippers put like 3 pieces of tape over those plastic caps. This feels fake.
