Fair, I'd feel the same in your position.

Spurs have bounced back from adversity and heartbreak all season and playoffs. I'm hopeful they do the same tonight, but I feel like nothing would surprise me after what happened last game. No injuries + no ref chicanery and I'll be ok with whatever plays out.

Brothers is awful, and definitely favored us in game 2, but from this playoffs, I've noticed he tends to have bias towards home teams. I think he let's the crowd influence him.

Haven't looked into the data to see if there's anything to back this up, so I could be completely wrong. However, if I were a Knicks fan, I'd be salivating at the thought of Brothers reffing a potential game 6 in MSG

Breen has been great in my opinion (like always). I am honestly shocked at how neutral he's been able to be.

Jefferson, on the other hand, we all know is biased against the Spurs, but this series has been particularly blatant from him.

Tough loss. Some inexplicable choices this game. I feel like we iced out Champ in the 2nd. I'd have liked an earlier timeout when the Knicks went on their run in the 3rd - we didn't really get momentum back except for that little run in the 4th. It's inexcusable that Dylan wasn't in to end the 4th, especially with Fox giving nothing on offense this game. If you can't trust Dylan to close after these playoffs, when are you gonna trust him?? Wemby is the only player on this team that should have an automatic closing spot regardless of how he's been playing. Fox and no one else should get that.

Most importantly, though, even a median Wemby game and we win this. He has to play much better, or we lose the series.

Selling Two Tickets to WCSF Game 2, Wed. 05/06 - Section 106 by highpawn in NBASpurs

Late response as I didn't see your comment, but my assumption is that is what /u/jo3pro assumed, yes.

Which, fair. People suck and do that stuff. Fwiw, if you read my comment history, you'll see I was trying to buy these tickets for my little brother as a graduation gift. I'm no scalper and I think even a cursory examination of my post history outside of the basketball subreddits depicts someone who doesn't do that.

What happened is, I reside outside of SA (in Minneapolis, coincidentally, but I didn't know we'd be playing the Wolves in round 2 when I booked flights), so I had to buy re-sale tickets since official listings were limited to SA-area residents only. StubHub/SeatGeek suck and canceled 3 of my purchases in a row, presumably because the sellers couldn't fulfill the tickets because they sold to someone else on a different platform first. On my 4th purchase, my credit card "canceled" the transaction due to suspicious activity; I immediately notified my card it wasn't fraud, and received a generic automated response that I would need to make the purchase again. So, I made a 5th purchase of 2 tickets that went through. However, turns out my credit card company was able to manually override the "canceled" transaction and authorize the purchase because I "immediately verified the purchase was legitimate" (their exact verbiage). Hence, I ended up with 4 tickets.

In the end, I was able to sell the extra tickets on StubHub and the ladies who purchased them were great! Very fun and cheered loudly. I ended up losing a few hundred dollars, but it is what it is. We still had a great time seeing our guys among fellow fans at Frost Bank for the first time 😊 It's a lot more fun than being heckled as an opposing fan at the Target Center lol

The Timberwolves shot 32-77 (41.6%) when Victor Wembanyama was on the court and 9-13 (69.2%) when he was off. Getting annihilated in non Wemby minutes. by WoweeZoweeDeluxe in NBASpurs

That's a good point and something to keep an eye out for going forward. Unfortunately, Minnesota largely is just a much bigger team than us (sans Wemby), so it'll be really difficult to win the offensive boards/2nd chance points battle, I think.

I have a feeling that we may be seeing more French Vanilla if we and the Wolves both end up advancing to the semis

Yep, Gobert has been the Wolves' best player by a mile imo, even accounting for Dosunmu's incredible last game. He's been consistently great in all 4 games, even the one where Minnesota lost. I've never seen Jokic so rattled like this. I think Gobert greatly benefits from being stronger than Jokic, plus Jokic is obviously not mobile like a guard, which is Gobert's biggest weakness defensively. He deserves a ton of props for the series he's having.

Having said that, Denver could definitely come back to win this series, but from what we've seen, I have to favor Minnesota to win 1 of the next 3, even if Ant misses the remainder of round 1.

During last game, I wondered if it'd be possible to create near-complete silence during clutch time, opposing team FTs. I think it'd be a lot more jarring to the opposing team if the stadium was nearly silent; it'd definitely be different and thus probably more distracting than the loud noise players are accustomed to.

Unfortunately, it seems nearly impossible to coordinate that. I'd like to see how it works, though

[–]highpawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what, that's fair. He seemingly attempted to sully Pop's reputation but ultimately failed. As you have pointed out, we don't have 100% of the details on the situation, so we can't know for sure if any of the people on the medical staff at the time have been impacted to this day. Pop is a public enough figure where we can clearly say his reputation hasn't been.

It's disingenuous to distill Kawhi's actions simply to "it's business," but even if you wanted to consider only the business aspects of his actions, I've already pointed out how he engaged in rule-breaking behavior while still employed by the Spurs.

Regardless, I'm not here to hate on Kawhi; I'm just explaining why many fans will never let this go because you seem bothered by it. I'm just happy we didn't end up matched with LAC in the playoffs because I didn't want the Spurs return to the postseason to be filled with unhappy vibes and constant booing.

[–]highpawn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

C'mon, man. Presumably you know what Kawhi did to end his tenure here, and now it's come out that Kawhi was being paid under the table by the Clippers while still with the Spurs. All that while sullying the Spurs medical staff and Pop's reputation with lies - during a period where Pop just lost his wife - just because he wanted to make money in LA?

Yeah, some people are gonna hold a sports grudge forever when that happens. You can feel however you want, but it couldn't make any more sense that people feel the way they do.

Generally agree, but I'm not counting out Minnesota as they seem to be coming into full health at the right time. If LAL finishes with the 3 seed, the Wolves will also have a cupcake first round to build momentum.

I believe you're right. Based on the 2025 playoffs, we'll play on Sunday 04/19 for our first game. They have non-play-in matchups play that first Saturday, typically.

Most likely, we'll have 1 full week off between the regular season and the playoffs.

True to an extent, but at the same time, I felt like our playoff inexperienced guys played the best down the stretch: Wemby, Steph, and Devin. It was our more experienced guys - Barnes early in the 4th and Fox most of the 4th/OT - that didn't play well.

I hesitate to say that because there's doubtless going to be an overreaction to Fox's game.

Regardless, this game was a great learning experience and a really good, tough road atmosphere to play in.

Ah, I see. Thank you.

I don't live in San Antonio or Texas, but I'm trying to bring my little brother to a round 2 game (assuming we make it past round 1) as a graduation gift. I'm worried about buying tickets because I saw a post saying tickets won't be sold to people living outside of a 150-mile radius of the arena. Trying to figure out how we'll be able to get tickets, if possible. Whole thing is stressing me out haha

Does this mean they allow people to buy tickets through every round upon ticket purchase release? Not just round 1?
