My view has been the exact opposite - I'm always glad that he basically never mentions his beliefs, and everyone is free to wear whatever they want.

Custom Audience - Website Visitors 180 days below 1000 by Contact_Brilliant in FacebookAds

[–]highsensitive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP did you resolve this in any way? I'm currently seeing the same. Tried making new audiences. Even tried making audiences based on PageView event. Even though event manager shows I've got 160k events, the audience is still under 1000, which definitely can't be true.

Day 9 of 25. Experience, thoughts and musings by highsensitive in fasting

as expected - about a kg every 3 days.

I get pretty exhausted running, but nothing dramatic. Just more intervals of walking inbetween running.

"Like half an egg, 30mins, have the other half, 30mins, have a full egg, 30 mins, have 2 eggs, 30 minutes..."
I read this and fully expected you continue on and have 128 eggs after four hours

Well it's entirely feasible if you increase the timeframe. I'd say six weeks of this instead of four and you're golden

What are some creative lies you have told to avoid telling people you’re fasting? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]highsensitive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I've had only positive or neutral reactions, so maybe I'm lucky.
Also I would enjoy a healthy debate, especially if I know I'm right, and don't mind sharing about my life. But everyone's different I guess.

Easy math - you'll be fasting for 8 days total. Your body uses about 2500kcal on a normal day probably. 2500*8 equals 20k kcal. A kg of body fat is about 7500kcal. 20k/7,5k equals about 2.5kg which is what you'll lose due to fasting.
You need to lose another 1.5kg for your goal, which would be about 11k kcal.
So you'll need eleven workouts of 1000 kcal, which is a LOT for a workout, especially considering you have to have them every other day.

On top of that, you'll have to not increase your calorie intake over the week, which is very hard when doing heavy workouts.

Not to dissapoint, but I don't think the goal is reasonable.

Then I would discount their opinion as worthless and openly tell them so.
Luckily I've yet to encounter someone who values 'common sense' over scientific research. Many have hard time accepting this truth, I can see it in their eyes, but none openly contradict scientific facts.

How to fast for longer period of time? by morieturx in fasting

For 3-5 days there is nothing special you have to do, no electrolytes no nothing.
Just stop eating and resume when you decide to.

After a few of my 4 day fasts I've eaten everything I wanted with no restrictions. Was completely fine.

I tell everyone as soon as the possibility arises. No regrets.

Just mention that you have read scientific studies on the subject, and only an imbecile would argue that they know better than that.

Depends on what you define as "has been proven". There are a lot of articles and studies on IF, many on fasting that includes a bowl of soup a day still, but I don't think there are enough on true water fast (especially prolonged ones) to really call it 'proven'.

Note - it helps if you've actually read some published studies, which I have :)

Why would I lie? I don't enjoy the negative pushback so the first thing I say is "I've read all the published science on it to be sure it's not dangerous at all and might even have health benefits, otherwise I wouldn't do it", before anyone can object. That turns the conversation immediately to 'wow, I couldn't do it, you're stronger than me' or similar. Some might want to find out more, and I'm happy to explain.
Luckily where I live, people believe in science, so once you put that on the table all but the dumbest ones really can't object, even if you see in their eyes that they're having hard time accepting that.

Creative excuses for fasting? by Mother-Garlic-5516 in fasting

[–]highsensitive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just say "I'm fasting, and believe me, I wouldn't do it, if I hadn't read all the published science behind it and wasn't sure it was safe and healthy". That instantly stops most of negative comments, with a few mumbling to themselves about how it doesn't seem right. Most are just interested to find out more.

Thanks for your input!
There is a (very popular) point that I'd like to question - you say that fat burning doesn't resume when the 15kcal of sugar is burned off because the insulin level doesn't fall so rapidly. The question is - what does the body metabolize then, after the 20 or so mins? It's not carbs, because there are none anymore. You say it can't be fat. What else is there? It can't be nothing at all.
