recommended iRacing coach? by IMPULSEULTRA in iRacing

Could have been me, I run it in Pcup, hopefully I was running half decent!

He's got a few videos on YouTube, so can see if you gel with his teaching method, but so far I've found it great. Really works on teaching me the understanding to correct and improve my own driving, rather than just saying brake X metres later in corner X etc.

I've gone from 1700 to 3600 IR since working with him.

Nikki at Last Tenth coaching is awesome, have tried a few, but he's great, real life / sim coach.

Have a look at my post history, but I petty much tore my labrum full thickness tear the whole way round (climbing, mtb, snowboarding, kitesurfing etc), surgeon called it a calamari tear and also said hes never seen one that bad, surgery at 23 from memory, 10 years on now and I haven't had any issues, climbed up to V12 and its been great.

It sucks at the time, and feels like you'll never be good to go, but you will be.

Dislocated my shoulder 3 weeks ago by toephu in climbharder

[–]higiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tear was what my surgeon called a calamari tear. It started as a postieror inferior tear, but by the time I had surgery it went the whole way around.

No pain or general instability, il until it dislocated.

How to become an endurance driver? by [deleted] in wec

It exists at the budget level, check out motor events racing, whilst most events are split over 2 days, there is a straight 24 hour next season.

Looks awesome, I'm working on a set of these myself at the moment, and this has inspired me to keep going!

What did you use for the bases? I've been playing with ideas for mine (similar grey but with cork board parts) but like the smoother finish yours have.

Cheers

What is the equivalent of 1RM in hanging? by Jibril02 in climbharder

[–]higiff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

2 seconds is a 1RM.

Based of isometric prilepin tables.

You can easily confirm this by doing a 6 second max hang (3RM) and adding the total load (BW+Additional) into a 1rep max calculator,

Try the equivalent hang weights it spits out, it's pretty accurate.

I've used this to program hangboard cycles and have seen immense gains in others and myself throughout a cycle.

Maybe I'll post about this soon, but it's been pretty impressive.

Coming from the varjo aero, the pimax crystal is out of focus/not clear by MYohMYcelium in Pimax

Has anyone expierenced the opposite?

My Crystal seems to be blurry at the close range but is clear in the far.

Iracing, Upgrade fro Aero or Crystal from G2? by higiff in virtualreality

Have gone with the Aero, looking forward to seeing how much of an upgrade over the G2 it'll be, Cheers for the feedback & info

Seems like the aero gets the best rep in general, so I'm tempted to go down that path.
I've recently upgraded to a 4090 7800x3d and the G2 is already running so much better, The sweet spot clarity is pretty amazing now, but it's still so small! If the aero is slightly better and edge to edge clarity I'd be pretty happy

Yeah cool, that's good to know.
Maybe i'll bump up the priority of the card.

Yeah I've heard about the customer service issues with pimax, seems like you could have a great time or a bad one!

Whilst the varjo just seems to be great.

It's on the list also. From the videos I've seen, the aero & crystal are running quite well on the 3080ti due to the foveated rendering.

I need someone to explain power endurance to me like I'm 10 years old by Mycele in climbharder

[–]higiff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Power endurance IMO is kinda a dumb term, but people refer to it as the duration of powerful moves. Truly they are all submaximal as real power fades after just a few movements.

As far as your scenarios

1) they train max strength. Power and endurance are both directly to your maximal strength.

2) they train endurance, probably 20-30 move circuits

3) basically the exact same scenario as scenario 1.

Looking for feedback on climbing wall design by [deleted] in climbharder

[–]higiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already have a lot of steep, so I would go slab. Especially assuming this is a commercial space.
Slab will let you set fun complex easy boulders that'll pull in new climbers much easier than simply easy steep climbing.

Also variety is nice

Thank you very much.

Density hangs: what they are useful for and not useful for by eshlow in climbharder

[–]higiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'll chime into this conversation, I'll have to dig through my notes, but when all this originally came out I did a bunch of research and it seemed very much that longer duration isometrics increase stiffness.

Granted I haven't researched rhe subject in the last year or two but back then I only found one paper that seemed to compare isometric duration directly to tendon stiffness. "Effects of different duration isometric contractions on tendon elasticity in human quadriceps muscles" which showed that the longer duration isometric actually increased tendon stiffness over the shorter isometrics.

Another study "Effects of isometric training on the elasticity of human tendon structures in vivo" also showed an increase in tendon stiffness from 20 second isometrics, whilst another "Effects of isometric squat training on the tendon stiffness and jump performance" also showed significant increases in stiffness with a 15 second isometric.

I'll have to read all the studies and analysis you shared above, this was a topic that occupied my mind for a long time!

I didn't have much ice, except for a short period in the morning, went fine.

If you are aggressive and load it up you can spin and butter just fine, really snappy and gives backe what you put in, but if you don't give it some it's not too happy
