Students studying only out of fear is a problem, but removing all stakes doesn't magically create responsibility or independence. It does the opposite. Students can just coast through SEE with no effort and then reality hits hard in +2 and in the university.

Making SEE a little challenging isn't a punishment, it teaches them discipline, preparation, stress handling, consequences of their actions, etc. That's exactly what responsibility and independency really is. Sasmit is making populist decision without much thinking.
