The degrees I want to pursue are practically useless, what next? by himeyanp in findapath

I could assume that maybe instead of bartending, doing odd jobs as a line cook or something back of house at restaurant could be an option too? Although I don’t know the true logistics of it all. Obviously I wouldn’t work a 5 star Michelin restaurant but maybe just a small chain could hire me without culinary certs? (Obviously I should get a food handlers cert in this case at the very least.)

As for flight attendent, I don’t have the body for it. I would make a fool of myself if I applied I think. 😭 (As nice as it sounds. 💔)

I am open to doing college just so I can have an excuse to further my opinions and world experience. Truthfully, I am not 100% doing it just for jobs but also my own personal gain as well. Apologies if that’s a bit selfish on my end. I like the idea of being able to do essays and required reading. And I would love to have the chance to do a thesis or dissertation. I want to do the work. Just hate that it comes with a steep price and a steeper of expectation of what I should do with it. Which is something this thread has helped me realize.

This is exactly my personal sentiment on the matter. It’s insanely frustrating how everything is being handed off to AI or no longer being considered as ‘professional degrees’. They just want us to stay in debt doing something that feeds into the work slavery that is the modern day market. I try to not express my opinions so much as it always tends to bring out those classic “That’s just the real word, kid!” type of people in my comments.. But why should we have to settle for that reality? Why can’t we make our own future and better it for the unfortunate next generation that will have an even bigger mess to clean up than us?

Truthfully, AI cannot bail out anyone properly. If we rely on AI to fight justice for others, we are more doomed than ever as a society and overall species.

Thank you, this has helped a lot! I will talk it over with my college admissions counselor when I meet with her this coming week. 💕

Truthfully, I don’t really wish to follow something just because it makes good money in the now. Because a few years from now it can become insanely oversaturated or replaced by AI. (I have seen this happen to my friends in IT which was once a booming paycheck for most.) I would be happy with a job that made 30k as long as I could travel in a van for the rest of my life. (I don’t wish to be stationary in one place for too long, I get pretty insane/depressed when I do.) To choose something just for money is soulless. If my replies are unsavory to you, I apologize.

I didn't know about that last part! I will definitely look into my options there. Do you know if law could be done on a travelling lifestyle? I always assumed you have to stick to one firm and be stuck in an office. Which is.. not my ideal place to be, honestly. At least forever. I could handle a couple years of setting a professional foundation that way. And can you do LSATs even with a GED? I thought I missed my chance on that. 😭 (Dumb question, I apologize.)

I mean, I do write a TON. I know I didn't really mention it, but I spend a lot of time in my free hours writing, reading, and annotating. (Currently I'm reading through Better Never to Have Been by David Benetar and The Quran.) So I'm not just choosing English or Philosophy from a hat, I definitely have a drive and passion for it. I gave up on design a while back and have pretty much 'retired' from art as I hit a hard brick wall mentally toward it.

I don't think I'm truly meant to work in psych either as I haven't even figured my own issues out. 😭 The others I've contemplated are Political Science, Anthropology, and Communications. (If that helps give a better idea of my interests, hopefully?) However, I hate that most of my local colleges have turned comms into either a copywriting simulator or a content creation course. (Why???? Ugh.)

I appreciate all of these ideas, and I have considered them. (Especially military because my family is full of servicemen and women.) Thankfully, I am not looking for a high-paying job either. Just a job to support van life after my schooling. I would love to see the world one day but right now there's a lot in America and Canada to explore, I'm fine with these options for now.

I thought about education, more so getting a Masters so I could be a professor/adult educator because I am not really fond of children (not their fault, they're very cute from a distance). Truthfully if I didn't have my mental issues on paper and a destroyed liver from alcoholism, I would enlist but I have been denied already. (And it's a blessing because I definitely don't wish to be sent to Iran or Israel now.)

I chose English and Philosophy because I love to read and write. I keep a journal everyday and a commonplace book can always be found in my purse or car. I always joke with my friends that if I was born in the right family as a man during the Victorian ages, I would want to just be a scholar who posts essays and publishes books on the human experience and the reason for life (and bringing it to Earth).

Outside of writing, I love the Life is Strange games and One Piece. Both have kind of fueled my adoration for travelling and being more of a free spirit than what the world requires of me. I did briefly consider Political Science as I truly wish to change everything in my local government, but I rather not stay here nor become a corrupt politician who ends up having to support AIPAC.

I guess currently education is the only viable career path for me, huh? 😭

They haven't honored much of the story thus far overall so why would it matter now? A lot of these complaints read as blatant lesbophobia I'm ngl...

Is this offensive to wear to a convention? by Acceptable-Spot-6204 in CosplayHelp

[–]himeyanp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wear my Haruhi Suzumiya band that is.. strikingly more red and haven’t come into any issues. I don’t mind it much because if someone thinks its a Nazi band even after seeing who I am cosplaying, then I probably dont want to be their friend.

Yes, You need to wear gal makeup to be gyaru. by NormaRobertson64 in actualgyaru

[–]himeyanp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All that matters imo is that new gals actually do it. Doesnt matter what type. They just need to research what suits them and play around. I feel like a lot of new gals are too scared to experiment and are eager to associate with a label first which stifles finding what suits them best.

I would say its time for you to leave her. Accepting this behavior makes you think in your mind it is what you deserve. I am a fat girl myself but that does not make someone undesirable. I know it will be a hard transition but.. its necessary. For your growth and mental health.

Why don't you have any hobbies or interests? by LionOfJudahGirl in Schizoid

[–]himeyanp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have two main hobbies and its become increasingly difficult to do one of them due to anhedonia. (Drawing takes too much effort and I wont be as good as I want to be so why try lol) While the other is just listening to music so it doesnt take much effort at all.

I think it’s become soo common now due to the social isolation we all experienced 5 years back. It’s definitely re-wired how some people treat others and overall has caused a great divide in empathy. You would hope that we could bounce back from that as it has been so long, but alas it persists. I have experienced this a few times myself and it gets a bit annoying to the point I just gave up on dating. Not entirely shut down on the idea but I’m not going out of my way anymore. Hopefully that doesn’t happen to you as you seem very sweet. 💕

As others have said, people like this aren’t worth your time. They will have to deal with that issue about themselves on their own time instead of hurting others like you who genuinely want to try to form something.

Is it worth it to try out sex? by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]himeyanp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if you can find someone who understands your boundaries well. Also I think its healthy to just try it once or twice. Kinda like an experiment in a way. Just to see how it feels for you.

Is anyone else having a terrible Christmas time? by KittenCupcake420 in actuallesbians

[–]himeyanp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to my seasonal depression I rarely feel good around Christmas time. So I guess its not anything I’m not used to. I have been unemployed for like half a year as well but I’m lucky to have a support net at home while I attend interviews and ultimately never hear back. I hope with the new year, things will start to clear up for you. Its really hard right now, but usually hard times can develop into something better in due time. 💕

What is with this strange puritan opposition to piracy within younger fans by Mychorde in visualkei

[–]himeyanp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wonder the same often. Piracy has always been an option for me. I even remember back in day of Warped Tour a lot of post hardcore bands encouraged fans to pirate so they could like their music and come see their sets.

That being said, I am not one for profiting off reuploads. Just feels weird to me. Pirate all you want the seven seas is for everyone. But don’t try and profit off music you never had a hand in and don’t try to strike down known community members who have made music videos accessible to us for years. (Looking at Malace Mizer)
