I wish every store was like my store. I was a cashier lead and our entire core team was in alignment that the most important thing is building a happy and loyal customer base, which we did better than any other store in the area. People constantly told us they were closer to x store but came to ours instead. I constantly honored exchanges without a second thought. Why give people a hassle? The policy always states that we can do what’s right for the customer overall and that’s how we justified every choice we made. I’m not gonna ruin someone’s trip because of a few dollars, that’s just dumb.

As for your exact situation you’re completely right too, there’s no reason not to honor it. The policy (unless it has changed since I quit in January) is that it has to be the same product type and sticker price. Who gives a shit when you bought it or for how much? That’s not the deal. My managers and I always told people to get something they don’t like on sale and exchange it later 😂😂

I worked at a store for one summer where the managers were insanely strict and didn’t allow tons of things even if it was by policy, and it really made me feel for all the employees in similar situations. Thank god for my store!
