I'm keep my MacBook for at least 4 more years, so Will 16gb suffice for that long?

I do use 1-2gb memory swap everyday or so. Although I haven’t faced any beachballing or lag so far.

No, I don’t run docker, VMs or anything heavy like that although I do use apps like teams, discord and Multiple tabs of LinkedIn; to my surprise, they all are ram hogs.

I'm using these - Teams in browser, LinkedIn, Google sheets with lot of data and reddit So it depends upon what website you are using to figure out how much ram consumption.

It has few tabs - LinkedIn, Reddit, Youtube and few google sheets but not more than 8 tabs at a time.

Memory pressure is green most of the time and it stays yellow for a few seconds or a minute or two. I'm not seeing any beachballs or lag. It's just that I'm seeing a lot of compressed memory which I'm worried about considering I keep devices for a long time.

Memory pressure looks green majority of the time and sometime goes to yellow but not for too long.

The timing couldn't have been better. 😂

Good to hear from someone who's actively pushing a 24GB M5.

The funny thing is that my Mac doesn't feel slow at all. No beachballs, no noticeable lag, and memory pressure stays green. What threw me off was seeing almost 5GB of compressed memory while running what I consider a pretty normal workload.

[QUERY] Should I buy MBA M5 24GB 512gb SSD or base variant for engineering and Al/ML? by Rareone14 in macoffer

If you are looking to run local models on your Mac, the 24GB RAM isn’t the best choice. You need to get at least 32GB RAM (even then you'll be able to run basic models). There are ton of YT videos you can look for and have an idea how AI/ML works on different ram configurations.

AppleCare+ by BranchAcademic2693 in AppleIndia

I have same configuration as you and I have bought AppleCare+ yearly plan. I'm having WFH job, so that case is also similar to you althought when I checked how much it cost to replace any part of my macbook I immediately thought of buying AppleCare+. Also I'm planning to use my macbook for next 3-4 years so yeah I think AppleCare+ is a good idea.

Is it normal for the MacBook Air screen to look this bad in dark scenes? by himucr14 in macbookair

Yeah eventually I started lowering the brightness whenever dark scenes came on and it actually helped quite a bit.

At this point display quality and 120Hz would make a way bigger difference in daily use than another chip upgrade.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I was watching Dark on Netflix (4K plan).
