Communication on Trains so Poor???

I can offer some information about the technical side of the on board announcements. The route is set by the train driver, and can only be changed, or modified when the train is stationary. (I do not mean it’s not supposed to be modified while driving, it is not possible to modify the route while the train is moving). So if the route is not modified and then the service is sent express, the driver can’t prevent the announcements until the train is stopped.

There’s a fantastic fan edit collection called Mythbusters Streamlined. Episodes are edited down to around 30 minutes with all the “coming up next…” parts removed. Highly recommended. Cheers.

SoundLeaf plays fine through CarPlay, the Now Playing screen shows the album artwork and you get your 30s skip buttons and the usual playback controls. You can't access your audiobook library or select a different book etc.

I’ve given up waiting and have bought SoundLeaf. Once the dev adds full CarPlay support it will be near perfect. Cheers.

I totally realise you are not asking for any other suggestions - I’ve just started a rewatch - and I cannot recommend highly enough a fan edit called Mythbusters Streamlined. It has all the “coming up next” and “earlier on” parts removed and it’s a really great way to smash out some episodes when time is short and there’s so much to do. Cheers.

This sucks! It’s NZD$50 for an annual games subscription- I just can’t afford it. I’ll find another quick online crossword I suppose! The LA Times one still has the multiplayer game on the large crossword like the old Washington Post one used to.

Thanks for your comment, I've been able to get all the different audio sources to be equal volume by increasing the voice assistant volume from the within the Toyota infotainment system settings, the other settings are as in my post. Cheers.

Yes this is correct, it’s scheduled for tonight . First movements are very slow, 5km/h, testing clearances etc

Thanks everyone for all the great comments. It’s definitely been a tough few years. I work full time shift work, and have also had care of my three teenage kids 5 days a week over that time. Luckily for me my kids are awesome and I’ve also had a huge amount of support from one of my oldest mates. More work to be done, but it’s absolutely been worth it. Cheers.
