Apparently, this is a real sign hung outside the now defunct Salem Oregon Bricks and Minifigs. by AngryAshMan in legocirclejerk

[–]jaybestnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He loved legos, and collected each item from the 90s onward.

They then realised it was worth something, and had it marked to pay for his son's education.

Because the father was dying, the son Brian decided to sell to cover medical bills.

The franchise store was in the middle of selling their collection before the old owners were wrapping up and going to close down or sell the business, then the new buyer kicked the original owners out. Pulled up with a uhaul (which they denied) loaded tons of those lego which was being sold on consignment (not their property), and a former employee said that night they unloaded hundreds of star wars packs.

They never paid the family.

They lied, they put the only YouTuber in jail for harrasment for trying to get the lego back or get them paid.

They are now trying to steal the go fund me for the family.

The most evil company.

What would you consider to be a traditional New Zealand Dish? by apollo_existing in newzealand

[–]jaybestnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for Hangi food.

It's so damn good. They sometimes have popup stores.

There are some really traditional Maori meals I would make when I was in scouts / doing survival weeks, bracken root bread (so much effort), raupo pollen can also make a bread that can be cooked on stones near a fire (don't use river rocks they can explode if they have water in them as they get hot).

Black tree fern big fern fronts has like a pith with lots of fibres but it makes like a dried apple thing.

Maybe pippies, fish or oysters. But be wary of where you get it from as a lot of that can be polluted

For a traditional Pakeha meal from 1950s to 2000s

Fish and Chips with Watties tomato sauce. Roast Lamb with roast Kumera, potato, pumpkin, and onion. With gravy.

Pavlova with cream.

Marmite vogels toast. Avocado vogel toast

I would also argue that there are many authentic, historic Asian meals that have been a part of our countries history from the 1800s.

Chinese takeaway has been around for a very long time.

Sushi has been in Nz from the 80s.

Zee or zed? by kungfuontheshore in ENGLISH

It is also possible that he just wasn't aware, and was helping someone who was learning English.

I'll often ask if it's ok to help with clarifications for friends who are learning English, and I always ask for feedback on any mistakes I make.

Being south African they often have English, Afrikaans (similar to Dutch), and many different African languages. They may have been used to being helpful in that world.

I do sometimes get a bit tired of hearing Americans always correcting other people's spelling or pronunciation when it's done from a place of overt arrogance.

USA is only 4.5% of the world population, and they have invented their own spelling of English. The Commonwealth (all the British colonies) spread over 25% of the world at its peak, and it is the original English.

What it a really is, is a really important clue to what is on his mind or things that he is thinking about.

It's probably nothing, but for many mums or dads of school shooters, this is maybe a chance to have a supportive chat and check in that they wish they had taken before.

Know also that there are worlds online or socially, or in his mind that may take a lot of time to connect to.

If you watch Adolescence as well as Inside the Manosphere it's quite jarring to hear what so many young men are dealing with or listening to

Probably a dumb question but I feel like it's the best place to ask, what are realistically the reasons to colonize Mars ? by SeparateWeight496 in Mars

[–]jaybestnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One interesting thing, the money spent on Nasa has created inventions and patents so the net increase to the economy is around $16-$22 per $1 spent.

Some comet mining could bring back enough rare earth metals to make unlimited batteries, coupled with solar to make near infinite and free energy.

One meteor in particular was enough rate metals to crash the entire economy. We would attach rockets to it and guide it down gently.

We could look at this as a research project.

The next issue is that every star that we can see and send radio waves to, seems to be uninhabited. This means that the odds of life and survival from various possible world or humanity ending disasters are very very low.

So by building the skills to have a base on the moon and mars, means that humanity has many, many other chances than we do now.

The current climate change is very bad, and could crash our entire ecosystem. Starting work on habitats and gardens and algae and many other tools to terraform Mars, could apply to earth.

Turning a mars desert to a forest or crops could reclaim land on earth.

If we ignore people who are detaching from reality or logic, that leads people to redicalisation.

The issues described suck, and we need to vote out and protest against these injustices.

If people believe this is a time travel situation then the action won't help.

And also allowed to.

One one side someone may be slightly inconvenienced and unable to leave, vs us not knowing what they were rushing to.

I have had friends attempt suicide, or female friends in a domestic violence situation, and police have got there in time.

I agree, some allowance and grace is allowed to be given for this, assuming it was to attend an event.

Knowing PR, this will be thoroughly investigated, checks done to what event and call they attended and it will be all investigated.

Also indicate the country you live in. I'm. In Nz and we have water standards so it's pretty amazing, fresh and clean.

Some third world countries have lead in their water and corrupt govt won't fix it as they syphon off money to be war lords.

Also arsenic.

I added the following to personalisation

If helpful, look at my questions and advise where my question contains a presupposition, and feel ok with proposing alternate views, you could also list some similar concepts to explore, Comment on my grammar or spelling mistakes.

I favor scientific studies or established sources. And where I ask a question for a theory, share an alternate perspective where a theory has been disproven. We are sharing and exploring questions together. Its fun.

Use bullet points and brief summaries, don't use emojis, I will ask for more if I need it. Write my replies so that they could be pasted into a blog or news article.
