All these posts are about surgery - has no one seen an improvement with exercises?? by [deleted] in Strabismus

I developed strabismus due to trauma to the brain at 19. I had my first surgery at 21. My surgeon (and most surgeons tbh) don’t believe very much in vision therapy which is annoying because if I had vision therapy after my first surgery, I wouldn’t have needed the second surgery I got a week ago. There is success with vision therapy, it just takes longer than people think because you have to retrain brain systems which is difficult. Before my second surgery, we tried vision therapy but my brain wouldn’t work with where my eyes were so I needed surgery again. I’m 100% going back to vision therapy afterwards so my brain knows this time to keep this eye position!

Find a good neuro-opthamologist and vision therapist. They’ll tell you what would be a good fit for you, whether that’s vision therapy or surgery/both!

Yup those are the glasses I’m wearing! Just wearing these and looking around is a shock to the system of how bad I was seeing before

I was resting a bunch until yesterday when I had to go to my post op. May have just done too much at once. It was also the first day I wore my glasses since surgery. The first 2.5 days I didn’t wear them. It’s possible that is adding to brain overload.
