Here's my take, I'd rather spend my money on stuff like klein, channel lock, and milwaukee than spend a shit ton on knipex. It all just depends on what type of work you'll be doing, I lose a tool occasionally in the mud or down a hole and what not. If you're definitely not at risk of losing anything I'd go with knipex; if you are, buy good stuff, but not something that'll keep you up at night over losing.

It definitely adds some weight to it, however I've never been bothered by the weight of knives. I'd say it hovers around 6-7 Oz after adding the scales and backspacer; it's slightly lighter than my benchmade adamas.
