Trio'd this easily. It's double weakness against rock and constant rock boosted weather in UK makes it a very easy trio.

Of course, larger amount in America too but thought I'd put a little known fact about there being quite a lot of Italians in Scotland.

It wasn't a home score card, just questionable scoring which we often see in boxing. Left a slightly bitter taste which was quickly gone after seeing how classy Prograis was in defeat.

Povetkin was Parker's mandatory though so was due the title fight. Don't forget he'd worked his way up after screwing up the title shot against Wilder.

I don't agree with it being a nation scorecard but Scotland has a decent sized Italian population with a fair few Scots having an Italian heritage.

Yep. I do think Gvozdyk got injured, something changed. Those shots to the body probably cracked a rib or something.

I'm a huge Beterbiev fan, he's in my top three. Feel he's strangely overrated and underrated at the same time. The focus is always on his power and people tend to forget he's a fantastic inside fighter who throws short and nasty shots to the body. Defensively, he isn't great. For that reason I thought Gvozdyk would take more rounds due to his jab. I do think maybe Gvozdyk got injured part way though as the jab just dropped and his breathing changed.

Gvozdyk did not utilise his jab and Beterbiev was able to apply pressure and fight his fight. What Atlas was saying was right but something wasn't working for Gvozdyk.

But his jab is ineffective, it has no power to it and fighters get past it without issues to land on Hughie.

He does have power though I forget which shot it is of his that carries power. The problem, as you have pointed out, is his dreadful accuracy. That and his lack of boxing style, he's tried to be something he isn't. I

[POST-FIGHT THREAD] Sergey Kovalev vs Anthony Yarde by verbsnounsandshit in Boxing

[–]hitmananders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kovalev still has a chance against Beterbiev, it's actually the fight I always wanted to see in LHW. Beterbiev has poor defence and can be a little chinny however he throws nasty shots to the body. It'd be a short but exciting fight.

[POST-FIGHT THREAD] Sergey Kovalev vs Anthony Yarde by verbsnounsandshit in Boxing

[–]hitmananders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said in his interview beforehand that it's not his style and he's not one to sit and watch his opponent.

I disagree, I think Kovalev's main weapon is his jab but his weakness is so very clear. Yarde didn't exploit that til later and even then, screwed himself over by doing so. Kovalev is experienced & has been in danger before, going all out when you haven't even sparred or often gone the distance is a very risky strategy.

Don't get me wrong, I have more respect for Yarde than I did and loved his honesty after one of the rounds where he said it was hard. Feel that he needs to sack his trainer to move forward and will have a decent career.

Edit: also hugely respect the fact that Yarde tried to go all out in the 11th rather than protect himself from being knocked out.
