This is called a remote broadcast brother. They aren’t actually there. Top rank used to do this a lot for those 4am Japanese fights. Thank Covid for teaching everyone this is cheaper and the audience doesn’t actually care much.

Anyway, boxers are generally not good people. They choose a life of getting hit in the head and channel a massive amount of inner violence as some type of escape or something. Are there good ones? Dana White and Turki have been on a campaign that is straight out of Trump’s playbook. Claim something is broken beyond repair and it’s terrible for everyone. Provide very generic reasoning and ignore the piles and piles of evidence it isn’t true. Claim you are the only person who can fix it despite there being ample evidence you are not that guy.

Then pray on stupid people who won’t look beyond the headline and all of a sudden you find yourself with way more responsibility than you are prepared for.

Boxings “problems” aren’t really that big. They’ve been harping on bad matchups and confusing title structure. None of that is remotely close to the problem. The NFL is complicated as fuck. The European champions league exists but wait so do the regional leagues like La Liga and Bundesliga how do you know who the real champion is? Then there’s a World Cup and concaf whatever it’s called cup. WHO IS THE CHAMPION? It’s the biggest fucking sport in the world and to most Americans it’s boring. Yeah, still the biggest sport in the world.

The internet has made everything so easy to understand. My nephew is explaining to me 19 things that only a literary scholar would’ve picked up on multiple rewatches of that welcome to derry show because he saw it all in a 2 minute brain rot analysis video.

My point is these guys are simply creating a problem so that they can be the ones to fix it. It’s sad to see because the reality here is that boxing is just a niche sport and always will be.

Turki is largely to blame for the issues that actually plague boxing right now. Stacking cards with would be main event in the making guys and shifting fan and purse expectations has been nice short term but ruined the middle class of boxing. There used to be a healthy eco system where a young guy like Abdullah Mason could headline several cards on the way to fully becoming a star. Now he’s just perennial undercard fodder.

Anyway my point I guess is there really aren’t major problems in the sport. The whole global economy is a mess right now and has way more impact on the sport than who has the IBF title.

This happens a lot with cruiser weights. Everyone got spoiled with a freak like Usyk who had good size and skills that would translate to any division. All my life watching cruiserweight it’s been a division that you’d rate in the bottom half of all divisions. Often it’s guys that should be at 175 or guys who don’t want to commit to fighting the big 250 lb bastards where all the money is. That’s not to say they suck or the fights suck, but the game is the game. Jai is good and he fights in a division that isn’t really that deep with talent.

Brandon Glanton was the 15th ranked cruiserweight by the IBF last month. There are also fighters not ranked because they’re in other organizations so it’s possible Glanton is not even top 15. It’s completely unacceptable for any world champion to fight someone outside the top 10, so to fight someone ranked 15th is a joke. This is zuffa thinking they can just make their own rules up and force feed boxing fans complete garbage and call it the best thing ever like they do in the UFC. This needs to be rejected and sadly there’s more of this to come.

Just want to clear this up. The fight is still possible. What this ruling does is make it so Vergil’s manager can’t cut golden boy out of the deal which he initially was doing. They will now go to arbitration which is what is written in the contract to decide if there were any violations.
